Chan Di-wah: Can't miss an exhibition 🥰 CHAT Sixth Factory Summer Exhibition "She can give me the sun in the dark ── Dedicated to Pan Di-wah" pays tribute to Hong Kong's generation of cultural idol Ms. Pan Di-wah🎉 Never exposed precious objects on display ❤️ Including photos with her brother Cheung Kuk-wing📸
Rebecca Pan (formerly Pan Wan-ching, born in Shanghai in 1930, moved to Hong Kong in 1949), most people only remember the Shanghai charter woman in the movie "A Fei's True Story", playing the love-hate mother in Cheung Kuk-wing brother's movie. Very unique and unforgettable at first sight.
I was lucky enough to see her in her prime at the Spin Palace Nightclub and the New Town Nightclub. I was only six or seven years old at the time. Sister Pan has always been one of the beloved female artists of LGBTQI+. This month is Pride Month🌈. The theme is always Be true to yourself and Proud. In 1972, Sister Pan's self-financed creation drove Hong Kong musicals, becoming the ancestor's work "White Lady" (Hong Kong's earliest musical is not Snow Wolf Lake children do not misunderstand 🤣🤣🤣), a love to the sea and stone love story, challenge power, challenge conservative ideas, the world does not tolerate love moved to the stage, no wonder comrades love Pan Sister so much, absolutely This is the best portrayal of our story in a discriminatory society 😍❤️👍🏻🥰 This musical is also a classic work of the late Hong Kong music fathers Ku Ka-yan and Wong Chan. Pan Di-wah's song "Love You Become Harmful to You" is well-known and still engraved.
Pan Dihua, 93, has been able to sing countless songs in different languages as a girl, including Thai, Spanish, English, Mandarin, Cantonese, etc. Any language is not difficult for her. So from Shanghai to Hong Kong, she has been playing an international goodwill ambassador for many years, representing Hong Kong abroad to visit different countries. Her work has also been a pioneering cross-cultural art repertoire. Including her self-funded cross-era musical "White Lady" in 1972, which used a lot of modern music and rock music to perform a well-known story of the White Snake Creating a musical of their own, but going too far, the people at the time could not accept this kind of performance at the first time, the musical performed 60 performances, staged at the Kowloon Palace, but also made Pan Dihua's sister lost more than 600,000, which was a very large number at the time, the house can buy two floors.
But usually the classic thing is that it can be remembered forever. In 2014, he performed a performance of "White Lady" by the Eastern Children's Choir, went to Manchester, England, and performed at two cathedrals in Derby and London. To this day, although there are very few stills and clips of the 1972 musical and almost no one has seen it, his music and tracks are still very treasured by many people.
This art exhibition "She Can Give Me the Sun in the Dark - Dedicated to Pan Di Hua" not only featured Pan's family with many valuable private portraits from the past, newspapers, magazines, documents and some of her private collection of clothes, records, etc.
Upon entering the Nan Fung Yarn Mill, visitors look above the atrium and see the huge grating portrait installation suspended in the air of the mill. They see Pan's figure captured in the camera at many different stages. Walking up the second floor CHAT Six Factory exhibition space, visitors can enjoy the self-60
From the beginning of the golden age of the 1990s, the portraits recorded by Sister Pan at the peak of her career, to the groundbreaking work "White Lady" - planned by Sister Pan in 1972, is considered the first local Chinese-language musical in Hong Kong.
Co-curators Wang Weiwei and Li Shaoyan believe: "'She can give me the sun in the dark night - dedicated to Pan Dihua' allows us to seek inspiration and imagination from Pan's musical journey and surviving works: How can we use that flexible, elegant and flexible posture to navigate realistic situations, self-discipline and self-love, and become a better version of ourselves? We look forward to this rich and diverse exhibition bringing you a wide range of introspection and introspection."
The most special installation image art, created by artist Cheng De-en, inspired by Pan Sister Bai Niang Niang drama "White Snake", the real White Snake legend integrated drama, fashion design and other elements, more White Snake elements to the newly popular short film culture, create a simple and interesting online dance.
In addition, Sister Pan's unexposed video footage is recorded throughout the exhibition by her confidant junior Chen Song-Yi. Through these close-ups, it vividly shows the multiple aspects of this radiant star's career and life. Sister Pan's far-sighted musical creativity and costumes were epoch-making for the audience in her time, and now CHAT Six is also trying to present a different cultural heritage to the audience in a novel and somewhat "rebellious" shaping way.
Sister Pan also trusted the artists with 10,000 points of trust and handed over many precious photos and letters to the artists to arrange their creations. She also said to the artists: "Many people may not understand your creations. Don't worry, just keep creating, move forward bravely, don't change yourself, stick to your beliefs, just like the musical stage play "White Lady" I created back then.
The unique exhibition "She Can Give Me the Sun in the Dark - Dedicated to Pan Dihua" not only revisits Pan's brilliant acting journey across three generations, but also showcases the characteristics of her multi-faceted and cross-sector figure - creative, frank, occasionally hesitant, but always leading us forward. Sister Pan promoted Hong Kong's music culture to the international stage as early as the late 1950s. She had an internationally renowned influence in the early music and entertainment industry and was the first singer to adopt "Chinese and Western lyrics".
The creation philosophy of CHAT Sixth Factory and Nan Fung Yarn Mill coincides with Sister Pan's artistic ideals. She shot a video at the opening of the exhibition, saying: "Nan Fung Yarn Mill is extremely forward-looking and an institution at the forefront of the times.
