Technically speaking, The Manila Hotel is only 10 mins away from domestic airport and 15 mins away from NAIA terminal 3. As historical landmark, the iconic Manila Hotel hosted several prominent personalities in the world like Douglas MacArthur, Ernest Hemingway, Michael Jackson, John Paul II, and Bill Clinton. As I walked with my long sleeves on the lobby of the hotel, amazed with the magnificent chandeliers, enjoyed furnitures carved with Philippine mahogany, with its spectacular spacious lobby, I felt comfortably sitting at the lobby area. Just staying in the lobby for an hour, I can feel the timeless beauty of The Manila Hotel built in 1912. I always like staying at the Manila Hotel for it’s view and classic team, I also like their food so yummy and affordable unlike any other hotel. the staff are very accommodating especially the nurse on duty that time. We definitely back again soon.

However, due to the corona, it was not so crowded and not recovered yet. I recommend this especially to balilbayan like me you can have a relaxing and nice experience with your family and friends. March 2023 Extremely disappointed for a so-called five star hotel. The property itself is beautiful, however, housekeeping is mediocre at best, the lobby lounge took a reservation for dinner, but then couldn’t honor the reservation. The concierge didn’t know which restaurant served western food, and when I finally had dinner at the lobby lounge, I asked for the Caesar salad which on the website is their signature Caesar salad. I was served a plain salad with a few tablespoons of salad dressing on the side. Certainly not a proper Caesar salad and certainly not for the price that they’re charging. Then, I wanted a medium burger for dinner. They wanted me to sign a waiver. WTF! In a five-star hotel, they have no confidence in the quality of their meat? The server told me well, Filipinos get sick if it’s not well done. So I asked him do Americans get sick on a medium burger? Seriously what a joke. But to my servers credit, when I complained, he went and got me a proper Caesar salad. But why should a guest have to argue with a server about a salad? Then, finally, the lighting in the rooms is very very dim. Several times we had to use our phones as flashlights because we couldn’t see the markings on some of the appliances like the iron for example. Bring a flashlight. I’m simply astonished, disappointed, and frustrated that a supposed five star hotel offers two star service . Yo want Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton service... go elsewhere.

A night at the Manila Hotel

We went to Manila to visit a friend for a day and we booked at The Manila Hotel. The hotel is really worth the price. The room was neat, spacious, and you can feel its cleanliness and I can say this has been well-maintained. Hotel service ferried us to and from the airport as it was December and we all know how busy the transport service can get when its Christmas time. All went smoothly and we wished we could have stayed a little longer but perhaps next time to enjoy more with this nice hotel.
