Lin Family Mansion and Garden
Located in Banqiao, the Lin Family Mansion and Garden is one of Taiwan’s best-preserved traditional Chinese gardens and a stunning example of classical architecture. Built during the Qing Dynasty, this historical residence belonged to the wealthy Lin family and features beautiful pavilions, ponds, courtyards, and intricate wood carvings. Walking through the gardens feels like stepping back in time, with winding stone paths, elegant bridges, and tranquil water features. The residence showcases the lifestyle of Taiwan’s elite in the 19th century, with rooms furnished with antique decorations. It’s a peaceful and photogenic spot, perfect for those interested in history, architecture, and traditional Chinese aesthetics. Since it’s a bit outside central Taipei, combining it with a visit to other attractions in Banqiao, like the Christmasland festival (in winter), makes for a great half-day trip.
