[2024 Taipei Stay] Travel Guide for The Grand Hotel (Updated Dec)
The Grand Hotel Taipei: A Five-Star Palace of Oriental Classical Aesthetics
The Grand Hotel, a landmark of Taipei, is a palace-style building full of oriental aesthetics. It is the first five-star hotel in Taiwan, with red pillars and golden tiles, standing majestically like a pagoda on Yuanshan. It faces the Keelung River to the front, backs onto Yangmingshan, looks towards Songshan to the east, and overlooks Tamsui to the west, making it a prime location with excellent feng shui.
The room types at The Grand Hotel are broadly divided into two categories. The first is the interior rooms without windows, which are about 6-8 pings in size and priced around NT$3000. The second, and most popular, are the rooms with exterior balconies, ranging from 10-15 pings for superior, deluxe, and elite rooms, to 20-39 pings for sky and panoramic suites, with prices ranging from NT$4000 to NT$10000.
The antique and elegant Chinese style has always been favored by foreign tourists. Especially since The Grand Hotel is located at a high point, during the day you can overlook the Taipei Basin, and at night, you can enjoy the brightly lit cityscape.

The grand hotel offers great services. It provides occupancy for many foreign officials and stars for years. The hotel has several restaurants and souvenirs shops inside. They provide free shuttle rides to close by MRT station then you can transfer to all over the Taipei city. You can leave your luggage for temporary storage after checking out. It is very useful for persons taking a late flight. Strongly recommend it!#taipei

The Grand Hotel 🏨, Taipei
One of the unique hotels in Taipei - The Grand Hotel, Taipei. From the first sign, I did even not realize that this is a hotel. From far away it looks like a big temple. But service inside the hotel is not so unique as its building. The rooms are a bit outdated, nothing special. The swimming pool is far away from the hotel building. If you want to use the sauna, you have to pay more money. The food in the hotel was also not so wow.

Taiwan's top hotel: The Grand Hotel Taipei
Taipei | The Grand Hotel
It is considered a representative building of Taiwan, with a palatial exterior that is quite magnificent. The Grand Hotel features a significant number of dragon sculptures in its architecture, with a total of 220,000 golden dragons, leading some to refer to the Grand Hotel as the 'Dragon Palace'.
Upon entering the interior, the lobby's red pillars and golden tiles are majestic, exuding a rich and classical atmosphere. The delicate palace lanterns are all handcrafted, with each lantern featuring different carvings and fine brush paintings, mesmerizing to behold! The palatial layout and the luxurious and elegant decor of each hall often serve as the venue for hosting foreign heads of state. The colorful painted beams, round columns adorned with red agate, and the glittering gold decorations, along with the paintings and reliefs that hang in each hall, such as the Kangren Snow Mountain, Dongtian Mountain Hall, Along the River During the Qingming Festival, and the relief of Duke Zhou conducting rituals and music, are all works of famous artists.
Even if you're not staying at the hotel, it's worth coming here for a meal. The hotel faces the Keelung River in the front and leans against Yangmingshan in the back, towering over the waist of Yuanshan with a very pleasant view. If you have time, you can also make an appointment with the concierge for a hotel tour to see the famous secret passages and learn about the hotel's historical and cultural past and present.

The Grand Hotel Taipei's secret passageways
Hidden within the verdant mountain forests, the Grand Hotel Taipei is not only famous for its majestic architectural style but also shrouded in mystery due to the legendary secret passageways. These passageways were once built for emergency situations and have now become witnesses to history. As you wander through them, it's as if you can hear the whispers of bygone eras and feel the rhythm of intertwining times. Behind each door lies a story, waiting to be discovered by travelers.
#2024Travel wish
In 2023, I participated in the West Secret Road Tour of the Grand Hotel🏯, which is a secret passage inside the Grand Hotel. Due to the large number of visitors, you need to make an online reservation in advance🕑 to avoid being disappointed because there are no seats if you want to participate. A tour guide will lead you into a special passage from the entrance inside the hotel. The exit is almost at the foot of the mountain. It is very magical and worth a visit.
My travel wish in 2024 is to go to Spain💃

The intricate details in the decor, from the dragon motifs to the traditional furnishings, painted a vivid picture of Taiwan's cultural heritage.
Exploring the Grand Hotel wasn't just a visit; it was a journey through time. The experience was so intriguing, making us feel like we were part of the living history of Taipei. Grand Hotel, two days and one night🤩
I have lived in Taipei for many years, but I have never had the opportunity to go to the Grand Hotel to explore the secret passages inside. With this two-day and one-night Taipei city tour, I came to live in the Grand Hotel. The secret passages are really interesting, and I followed the tour guide's footsteps. Step by step, we walked in and out of the secret passage. Unfortunately, we did not go to the direction of the slide, but it still satisfied our curiosity about the secret passage. The mystery and solemnity of the Grand Hotel can be fully experienced in two days and one night. It is a very worthwhile visit💖

I flew here to stay at the historical grand hotel for my best friends wedding. It did not disappoint. We got an amazing balcony that overlooks the city. This wedding venue is so gorgeous and the staff were so friendly and helpful. There are shuttles and easy transport to get to night markets or other attractions. The wedding of course was amazing. We also got a tour of the east tunnel which is not always open to the public, the tour guides are volunteers but they are so professional and knowledgeable. highly recommend you check out a tour of the tunnels and learn about the history of this hotel. #grandhotel #台湾 #圓山大飯店 #weddingvenue #historic #freehotelstay

The Grand Hotel Taipei - The original site was once the Taiwan Shrine built by the Japanese during the Japanese colonial period. Due to its location on the top of the Jian Tan Mountain, it stands out above the Taipei Basin and has an excellent geographical location in feng shui. The hotel roof uses the hipped roof style. The hotel's architecture features a considerable number of dragon carvings, so some people call this hotel the "Dragon Palace". In addition to dragon shapes, there are also Chinese architectural patterns such as stone lions and plum blossoms.
