It is a house style that was influenced by the West, called Gingerbread House or translated into Thai as "Gingerbread House" because of the decorations, beautiful and delicate fretwork patterns on the house that are similar to "gingerbread" or cookies that Europeans often make and eat during Christmas. --------------------- Back in 1913 or around 106 years ago, Khun Prasert Thama (Mr. Khan) and his wife, Mr. Amnat Nai Sukunpram, acquired a plot of land in Trok Bot Phram, Sao Chingcha, which was about 47 square wah. When Mr. Khan acquired this plot of land, he built a house in the "gingerbread" style, which was popular at that time. Mr. Khan designed the entire house himself. Including his own logo, which was placed on every vent in the house. It was a circle that read "Khan". If anyone visits this house, I would like you to try to observe and read it. If compared to the present day, it would be like a personal logo. At that time, people still liked to live in large families. Mr. Khan's family was no different. Therefore, each room was divided into small rooms with windows, ventilation holes, and walkways connecting them all, making the residents feel uncomfortable, which is different from houses today where rooms are separated and completely closed off. Another interesting point in this house is "Lan Saka". Mr. Khan himself has a hobby that he loves very much, called "playing ska". He even built a balcony on the side of the house as a place to sit and relax. When meeting friends or important guests, no matter who comes and goes, Mr. Khan always invites them to sit and relax here. The people in the house call this area "Lan Saka" which still maintains its original perfection. Currently, it is placed in a hexagonal pearl room on the second floor of the house, which is still in its original beautiful condition. This mango tree was planted by Mr. Khan's daughter after she moved into this house. It is estimated to be almost a hundred years old, just as old as the house itself. It is an Okrong variety of mango that still bears fruit for the children and grandchildren of the house to make sticky rice with mango every year. --------------------- Later on This house has been passed down through the heirs in the following order: 1) Khun Prasert Thabhi (Mr. Khan) 2) Thanpuying Nuengsanit (Khun Prasert Thabhi's second daughter) 3) Thanpuying Phetchara Techakampuch (Thanpuying Nuengsanit's daughter), the personal dentist of King Rama IX 4) Khun Thanatchaporn Kunarattankun (Thanpuying Phetchara's daughter) During Thanpuying Phetchara's era, she had a firm intention to absolutely not sell this house, but to preserve it as a historical heritage by keeping it in the same condition as possible so that the next generation can learn, experience, and absorb the atmosphere. And importantly, to prevent people from forgetting the style of the house, at that time, more than 30 years ago, Dr. Sit (Thanpuying Phetchara's husband) made the nameplate with his own hands. It can be called a handmade work by carving the wood by hand and applying gold leaf to the front door, which is the name of the word "Gingerbread House" This house has been called since then. --------------------- After 106 years, Thanachporn, the 4th generation heir, finally consulted with her mother, Thanpuying Petchara, that if we still close the house like this, the house will only deteriorate. They talked until they finally came to the conclusion that they would renovate and repair the house again, keeping it as original as possible, without changing or painting it, and only repairing the severely damaged parts. I was super excited to visit this place as it mimics the traditional thai house in the village and transformed it to a modern cafe. Serving exclusively thai desserts, the presentation is amazing. Lots of photo ops for you to choose from. We chose the 789 baht set but swap 2 of the items for bingsu. Bingsu came with 2 different flavours - Thai Milk Tea & Orange - we got the former.
