[2024 George Town Stay] Travel Guide for The George Penang by The Crest Collection (Updated Dec)
The Best Duplex Suite in George Town at The George!
George Town, Penang is one of Unesco’s titled town, with abundance of beautiful boutique hotels, luxury accommodations, small aesthetic cafes and historical buildings. The George Penang has become our choice for a comfortable night stay considering its perfect location, right in the center of the town.
We arrived in Georgetown at around 12:00 in the afternoon, amd we parked our vehicle at the basement parking. It was fully automated, and card was not required as they used sensor and camera syatem to capture the car plate number.
We performed an early check in, and left our luggages with the porter. We spent around two hours exploring nearby attractions, and came back to the hotel to collect the keycard to our room. We booked ourself to a Heritage Suite.
A true definition to luxury, the room was set in duplex style with separate living and bedding area. The balcony was huge, overlooking the city and the famous Komtar Tower. The living space was equipped with a full pantry and stocked mini bar, ironing facilities, flat screen TV, small dining table, a guest toilet and also a massage chair.
Upstairs, the bedding area was equipped with a king-sized bed, a bathroom with a bath tub, and a standing shower. I personally loved the bathroom amenities with beautiful packaging. The mattress was of medium firmness, however the pillows were soft. The used high quality cotton linen too. I could say that I had a very good night sleep.
Breakfast however was basic, and the spread was rather ordinary for a five star rated hotel.

The George Penang - A Luxury Boutique Hotel
When I was on a business trip with my colleagues, we booked this hotel. The hotel design is very heritage style, especially the lobby is decorated with many stamps collected from all over the world. There are 3 of us, so the room we stayed in was a double family room. The room was spacious and comfortable, facing the swimming pool, their swimming pool is salted water pool! The location of the hotel is very good. If you want to eat nasi kandar, you can just cross a road. Definitely will come back to stay again for the next trip :)

Penang Hotel Recommendation | The George Hotel, a century-old building.
| The George Hotel, a century-old building. This time I went to Penang, Malaysia, and stayed at The George Hotel. It is located in the heart of Georgetown, very close to various World Cultural Heritage sites. The building itself is a century-old building with a very retro and distinctive exterior.
The hotel owner is Chinese, and many staff members are also Chinese. You can communicate in Chinese, and the service attitude is very good. Every time you enter or leave the hotel lobby, the security guard will open the door in advance.
The rooms are spacious and bright, and some rooms have large balconies. You can see the ancient city from the balcony. In addition, the hotel has a swimming pool, gym, and restaurant. The breakfast included is very rich and diverse.
There are supermarkets, convenience stores, restaurants, and bars around the hotel. It is also very close to the morning market. You can take public transportation outside, and it is very convenient to shop and eat.
Hotel: The George Hotel
Address: Penang Georgetown Art Street
Price: From 700 yuan
Penang Recommended Itinerary:
Day 1: Visit the Georgetown World Heritage Site, such as St. George's Church, Overseas Chinese Museum, Longshan Hall Qiu Company, Clan Jetty, Little India, Old Guan Zi Jiao Clock Tower, etc. You can rent a Nyonya costume for travel photography.
Day 2: Penang Hill Day Trip, be sure to take the cable car up the mountain, the scenery is very dreamy, like entering Miyazaki's summer. After reaching the top of the mountain, you can continue to hike through the tropical jungle, where you can encounter various animals and plants. You can walk on the treetops, which feels very magical.
Day 3: Ride an ATV through the countryside in the morning, and watch the sunset at Batu Ferringhi Beach in the afternoon.

Excellent Raffles Hotel look alike! Very clean and new even after so many years. Bed & comforter were very comfortable! Love this hotel and will be back! Highly recommendeded.
Choose the cheaper room which face inside. Very quiet as it was not facing the main road. You won't need a nice room view because most of the time you will be outside eating Penang food!

Kuala Lumpur and Penang 5-day itinerary
Kuala Lumpur + Penang 5-day itinerary is here!
We have 2.5 days in Kuala Lumpur and 1.5 days in Penang.
Kuala Lumpur itinerary
1. Highly recommend the hotel I stayed at, 121 Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur City Centre, Kuala Lumpur (right under the Petronas Towers, the hotel lobby exit is exactly where the photo in picture 1 was taken. For family trips, I recommend the suite! It's amazing, and it even has a washing machine. Deposit: 300 MYR)
2. Since we arrived at night, there is a convenience store and restaurant opposite the hotel. We ordered chicken leg with curry beef. Very delicious!! Also, the Petronas Towers turn off their lights at exactly 12 AM, so make sure to catch it in time.
Day 2: In the morning, we went to the restaurant in picture 3: search for 'Hai Di Lao' on the map, go to the one closest to KLCC. It's a Michelin restaurant. We ordered the mixed seafood noodles and fish head noodles. Personally, I found the fish head noodles had too strong of a rice wine flavor, but locals love it. I think the mixed seafood noodles are better (I'm from Guangxi).
4. After breakfast, we took a taxi to Batu Caves to learn about Hindu culture (there are lots of monkeys and pigeons). Our plan was to visit from top to bottom (Batu Caves to National Mosque (free), Jamek Mosque (free), Islamic Arts Museum (ticket 20 MYR, student ticket 10 MYR), Independence Square, all roughly in the same direction).
5. Then at 5 PM or earlier if you have time, go to Sungei Wang Plaza to buy tickets for the night sightseeing bus. We found the way at 7:30 PM, but the tickets were sold out. It was a pity because the night view is beautiful and not hot!
6. In the evening, you can also go shopping at malls like Bukit Bintang, KLCC, etc. Chanel lipstick 💄 208 MYR, spend 400-20 MYR, averaging less than 300 RMB per stick. I bought YSL 💄, even cheaper at 180 MYR, about 260 RMB per stick (best to pay with Alipay for the best exchange rate, 1:1.53).
Day 3: On the third day, we contacted a Chinese driver to take us to the airport and stopped by Putrajaya for a while to take photos. You can take photos of the Pink Mosque and see the Prime Minister's Office.
Penang itinerary:
1. The flight from Kuala Lumpur to Penang takes 1 hour. We arrived in Penang at night, dropped off our luggage, and went out to find food. We ate the dish in the picture, 'Fa Cai La La Pot,' very delicious! If you arrive earlier, you can try Nyonya cuisine, recommended by locals at BB.
2. Penang hotel recommendation! OZO Hotel, 400 MYR per night, the rooftop has a pool with a sea view, and it's close to the street! 166 Jalan Argyll, George Town. If you can afford it, stay at the George Hotel (the expensive one), very beautiful, and both hotels are close to each other.
Day 1: Early in the morning, we rented a motorcycle near the hotel, 35 MYR per day, deposit 100 MYR. You need to refill the fuel you use or let the owner deduct it from the deposit. Don't worry about fuel costs, 1L is only 2.5 MYR. After renting the motorcycle, we first went to the Peranakan Museum to rent costumes for photos, costume rental 108 MYR, ticket 25 MYR.
