The UK is a country where art lovers can enjoy large museums for free 🥺 Tate Modern, the British Museum, the National Gallery, the Natural History Museum are all super attractions that are always featured in London guidebooks! So this time I thought I would leave them out and introduce something more niche, and chose the Design Museum! I am a graphic designer, but even a professional would find this museum very enjoyable! I thought that it might be a little difficult for the general public to understand, but I think that people who choose this museum have high design literacy and see a lot of things on a daily basis, so it is a very fresh museum for them! Design is a broad term, but to put it simply, it is mainly about everyday design used in daily life. . . The aim is to see the history of the development of modern design through the relationship between designers, manufacturers, and users! Designers are often told that they are fashionable, but they are not doing anything fashionable, they are just simplifying and creating a path. . . . There is a client (manufacturer) there, and our job as designers is to think about how to present the design to users from a design perspective and how to present it in a way that will make the client's opinions easy to convey to the user. . . This is what I thought, and the exhibition was easy to understand! I've talked a lot, but what is exhibited specifically? What is the appropriate size and type of font for train route maps, bulletin board letters, credit cards, etc.? What is the font? There were explanations using familiar things like that. It's not very interesting in words, but the way the exhibition is presented is innovative and fashionable, which is a big plus and makes it enjoyable for the general public. This was a bonus on our trip we visited the Tim Burton museum as it was round the corner from our hotel. It was brilliant to learn his story and see the progress in his drawings to the films being made and the props used. My fiancée and I are big fans of Tim Burton movies so this was a great insight and thoroughly enjoyed it. Would recommend this if you are a fan or not as a great learning process.

Took the time to visit the Tim Burton exhibition at the Design Museum in London and I couldn’t believe just how many original drafts hand-drawn by the man himself there were. As a major fan of The Nightmare before Christmas, Corpse Bride and the Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children series, I was pretty intrigued and surprised by how such simple concept sketches could turn into the way they are in the movies. All in all, it’s really given me a lot of insight into the artistic process behind all of these works that we all know and love today. This was 100% worth the ticket price and I’d recommend this to anybody who loves Tim Burton’s works and wants to see the concept art behind his films. It is a medium size museum, free entry for permanent exhibition , fee for special exhibitions. The permanent exhibition consume one hour to finished, quite worth to have a look for old stuffs in different period. You can found some devices or stuff that you may had them long time ago. i.e. iPod , Sony errison mobile, Nokia phone etc. You also can see a hugh 3D printing machine too.
