[2024 Singapore Stay] Travel Guide for The Barracks Hotel Sentosa by Far East Hospitality (Updated Nov)
The Barracks Hotel Sentosa by Far East Hospitality exudes a full vacation vibe!
Barracks Hotel Barracks provides a butler service within Sentosa, who will send the island entry code to your room in advance. The hotel's facilities are very new, and the entire hotel is converted from a military camp managed by the British. It has a total of only 40 rooms, which are distinctive, retro, and most importantly, quite new. There are fewer guests, making it especially quiet and suitable for a vacation. Each floor requires a room card to access, ensuring privacy (I was initially interested in Shangri-La, which is said to be suitable for children, but many reviews mentioned it's too old and crowded, which dissuaded me).
I really love the breakfast at this hotel, which offers both Chinese and Western options. They will have you select your breakfast for the next day upon check-in. We booked two Deluxe rooms and brought along two children, making four people in total (the rooms have direct pool access), which made it even more convenient and effortless to play in the water with the kids. They also provide an afternoon tea set, which you can pre-select along with your preferred dining time. Beverages are all-you-can-drink and can be delivered to your room.
I'm quite reluctant to leave this hotel; it's too suitable for a lazy vacation with kids. If you want to visit the various beaches in Sentosa, you can arrange with the hotel in advance for a shuttle service, which is very convenient and considerate. The surrounding area, as well as some exquisite Western restaurants, are all within easy reach if you don't want to travel far for a laid-back vacation with kids.
The hotel satisfies all needs, with beautiful scenery both during the day and at night.
The atmosphere is rich, making it suitable for photography and producing great photos.

The Barracks Hotel Sentosa by Far East Hospitality
The Barracks Hotel Sentosa is an eternal experience in the heritage paradise of Sentosa. This custom luxury hotel is located in two well-preserved period buildings, which were once the British artillery outposts built in 1904, offering a unique heritage paradise, unparalleled hospitality, impeccable service and thoughtful luxury. As a tribute to the charm of the old world, the rooms have rich dark wood grain, warm brass and leather decorations, juxtaposed with modern luxury white marble bathrooms with large independent bathtubs. Enter the living room to enjoy daily breakfast, all-day tea, cocktails and snacks.

Barracks lounge benefits
The Barracks Hotel has a beautiful lounge space called The Living Room, where guests can come and enjoy evening cocktails and all-day refreshments. It has 3 sides worth of full-length windows that allow natural light to stream in, creating a bright and open ambience. Everything feels luxurious and even the snacks are of a much better quality.
If your staycation package also includes breakfast, it is served here in the mornings. A slow and relaxing way to start the day!
My overall rating of the experience: 5 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Barracks - Sentosa Island, Singapore
This is one of the finest luxury hotel that I’ve ever stayed. The Barracks is a 5-star luxury boutique hotel that is located in a restored 1900s colonial building that was once used by the British as their army barracks. The hotel is simple in design, but does everything to perfection: impeccable and personal staff that makes you feel like they are your private butlers, the all inclusive and free flowing late-afternoon cocktails with finger food, and their delicious breakfast that will remind you of a home cooked meal. The hotel is quietly tucked away from all the excitement that Sentosa Island brings, however it is only a short minutes away to the closest bus stops and monorail stations.

This used to be soldiers bunk?
After being taken over by the Far East company, this building that once was a bunk for British soldiers around the time of World War II had now been immaculately transformed into an incredible 5-star luxury resort! The architects cleverly retained elements of historical significance in the current design, such as the chest drawers and the work desks.
What is also commendable is the fantastic service from all the staff here, across the front desk to the housekeeping departments. Everyone was just so welcoming. Do make time to enjoy the swimming pools too or sunbathe on their deck chairs with the towels provided. The unique black bathtub is also highly instagrammable!

Chill by the pool
If you ever come to The Barracks Hotel for a stay, I highly recommend spending your time by the pool. In fact, there are two large pools on either side of the property you can choose from. You can even find jacuzzi jets along the sides and relax in those corners.
The rooms and lobby area are equally gorgeous, designed in a modern colonial heritage fashion. It is a building with much historical significance so be sure to chat with the staff to find out more about it.

Celebrating with Barracks Hotel

The Barracks Hotel
Had an amazing birthday staycay. Started off with pre-arrival email offering 11am check in, welcome drinks, hotel staff walks us to our room and shows us around.
Room was decorated with a box of chocolates and filled with chips and biscuits.
We were enjoying our evening canapés and cocktails when the staff surprised us with a whole cake and a Barracks plush bear. The manager Emily took our pictures and printed it out as a memento. The cocktails are great. Strongly recommended. Evening canapés timing is from 4.30pm to 6.30pm.
Going back to our room, we realised the housekeeping team has already finished turndown service. Our used towels and bathrobes gas been replaced. There's even a bath bomb for us to soak in.
Breakfast was pre-oreder during check in. Choose one starter and one main.
Overall, Barracks Hotel gave us a very personalised service, felt warm and welcomed. Handwritten notes are nice. Will definitely come back.

If you’re looking for a relaxing stay in Singapore 🇸🇬…
Address: 2 Gunner Lane Singapore
Location: Sentosa, Singapore
When I was visiting singapore, I was visiting for 3 months so I have decided to book a stay in Sentosa given it has a nice, islandy and resort kind of vibes.
As soon as we arrived the check in reception, we were greeted by nice and hospitable staff, who then advice that we would have a free afternoon platter to enjoy with free flow drinks! And also the hotel offer free transport (in a golf cart) within Sentosa!!
I would highly recommend booking a room with poor access just like what we did. (although it’s not a private pool but you get to enjoy a private-ish jacuzzi)
The Barracks Hotel is named one of the most romantic hotel by Time Out Sg and I can vouch for this 🤍

Very serene hotel with good customer service
Good experience from the time I email to ask for a complimentary bear to the hotel offering an early check in to the very inviting bathtub to the nice lounge and finally the serene pool. Canapes can be refilled. Cocktails are good and also one of the lounges where I can have good latte.
A 2-storey heritage hotel with only 40 rooms. Hence, the premise itself is not very big. But this is what makes it serene. One fun fact: The pool towel is of good quality - u can use it as a "swim wear" as it hugs tightly around you. haha!

Imbiah station
If you are coming from Vivocity and taking the Sentosa Express, there are a total of 4 (Vivocity, RWS, Imbian and Beach) stations. Alight at Imbiah station to cross over to Oasia Resort Sentosa, Village Hotel Sentosa, The Outpost Sentosa and The Barracks Hotel. It is extremely easy and you can see these hotels from the station platform. There are F&B options at Imbiah station and if you walk a bit further, you can access the cable car Sentosa line too. If you are driving then you can park it at the hotel and use Sentosa Express to travel within Sentosa.

Do yourself a favour, if you are considering staying anywhere else in Singapore. STOP!
The Barracks Hotel is so special and so precious that you must stay there even if you don't want to visit Sentosa Theme Parks, you are so close to main Singapore it is just the best choice.
Where to begin... Firstly the communication before you arrive is really good.
1. Spend the extra and get a Suite, just do it, so worth it. This will be the only option if you have children for the space it offers.
2. You get met by amazing staff of all age groups as soon as you arrive, they are dressed so beautifully you know you feel like you are in a Parisian Magazine. They are so genuine and so delightful, they actually care and don't boss you around, only spoil you and make you feel so happy.
3. Peacocks wander about the romantic gardens,
4. The swimming pool is so restful and private, but you can go use all the sister hotel pools as well to mix it up.
5. The food, you pre order the night before your breakfast and book a time to go , the Eastern and Western breakfast are all divine, we tried them all.
6. The club lounge is next level, coconut water, soft drink, cocktails, amazing lattes, beer and cocktails, complimentary crisps, biscuits canapes!
7. when you go out shopping they give you cute bags, sunscreens, sanitisers.
8. The suites, so many lovely products in the bathroom, the room stylists Jack and his supervisor Hi Zang, make it look so nice every day. Complimentary water ( plenty of) and coconut water and cokes in the fridge
9. Comfy beds, comfy pillows.
Tips for local area, monorail quick walk nearby to Vivo city Mall, or Universal Studios ( Buy the Express Pass) then you can catch train from next door at Harbour Station to anywhere around Singapore very easily and safely.Jumbo at Ion Orchard Shopping Mall top floor if you would like to try Singapore Chilli Crab.
We are saving up to go back as this is a very restful lovely place in a beautiful chic building with incredibly kind good staff.

Evening Cocktails in an exclusive lounge

Have evening cocktails at The Living Room
Address: The Barracks Hotel 2 Gunner Lane, Singapore
The Living Room is an exclusive lounge for The Barracks Hotel’s guests where breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktails are served. All-day refreshments are also available.
During my stay, evening cocktails were served from 5PM to 8PM and at that time, I had to choose a one hour slot. I wanted to try all of their 5 tea-based cocktails but I was only able to have 3 - Palawan Sling, 1904 Manhattan and Whiskey Sour Earl Grey. I will definitely be back someday to try the other 2 - 1904 Barracks Spritz and French 75 😉 I love that they do not scrimp on the alcohol! There were only a few items in the snack board served but ample for me.
I like the ambiance and it's not intimidating for a solo traveller like me. My experience rating - a perfect 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟.

Heritage hotel tours and workshops
Address - The Barracks Hotel, 2 Gunner Lane, Singapore 099567
If you are an in-house guest at The Barracks Hotel, you actually have access to the various activities and workshops planned within the hotel premises! When my husband and I did a stay there, the workshop that was offered was a flower making workshop since it was close to Valentine’s Day. We created our own bouquets and presented them to each other.
There was also a heritage tour led by actual veterans who were stationed here many decades ago during the war. Super cool! They shared their stories and even old photos of themselves.

A hotel with history
Address - The Barracks Hotel, 2 Gunner Lane, Sentosa Island, Singapore 099567
The Barracks Hotel is a beautiful colonial-style double storey hotel that has luxury in every corner and aspect! My husband and I really loved the room as it had a tinge of nostalgia with all the traditional elements, yet it was completely done in a modern way.
Our room also had a balcony overlooking the pool, perfect for chilling out at. When we first arrived for check-in, we are offered a really delicious welcome drink and a cold towel. Awesome service!

2022 Birthday Staycation 4 of 4
The Barracks
Address : 2 Gunner Lane, Palawan Ridge, Singapore
Price : Around S$750-800 for a premium room with pool access
Trip experience : 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 out of 5🌟s
Ending my birthday hotel-hopping staycations with a bang and I chose to spend it at this luxury heritage hotel. My friends have been to and indeed, it was worth the splurge!
First, if you do go to this hotel by cab, make sure you ask to be dropped off at it’s basement parking. I was dropped off at the roundabout near Mess Hall and it isn’t too ideal most especially if you have a trolley luggage to lug around!
Around the 1900s, this luxury hotel, located in Sentosa Island, was previously used to house military personnel (hence, it’s name, barracks). Sentosa Island has a rich local history, one of which was it being a military base several years ago. The well-preserved colonial building was transformed into this gem of a hotel. Around the area, you can see several framed artifacts from the colonial period.
I booked a room which has pool access. It’s bathroom leads to the small outdoor seating area which leads to the swimming pool. The pool area in front of the room has bubble jets!
My room rate included breakfast (selected/pre-ordered upon check-in) and access to The Living Room. Drinks are served all day, inclusive of evening cocktails. They have five special cocktails (tea-based). I wanted to try all five but only managed three! They were strong and I love it!!! Since I booked via their website, I got a free glass of bubbly too.
Hotel staff always greeted me with a smile when they see me around the vicinity while taking photos. During breakfast, they called me by name even before reaching the Living Room and saying my room number. I felt at ease even if I was by my lonesome.
Another far east hospitality hotel which made me feel at home… will definitely be back.

Absolutely World Class Experience
This New Hotel has definitey dethrone Capella Sentosa IMO . The rooms are delicately presented and positioned in a nice charmimg copper tone, soft, yet elegant in its distinctive touch. I love how they have a spacious living room, just exactly like those i,ve seen on TV screen, 1950’s colonial era living room. Picture speaks a thousand words and Experiencing it yourself is even speechless ! go try it to believe it . Oh yes, some room on the ground floor will have a balcony that you can literally jump into the pool as well. A total of only 40 room ! will be back #staycation #beachlife #summervacation #

Executive lounge for all guests
Address - The Barracks Hotel Sentosa, 2 Gunner Lane, Singapore 099567
The Barracks Hotel is located on Sentosa Island and has a 40-room occupancy, so all guests actually have access to The Living Room, the hotel’s private executive lounge!
The lounge provides all-day refreshments of potato chips, nuts and non-alcoholic beverages but what we were looking forward to was evening canapés and breakfast in the morning!
Most of the food items were yummy, but breakfast was unfortunately limited to one main per pax. That’s a little stingy given the cost of one night here.
My overall rating of the experience: 4 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Barracks Hotel staycation
Address - The Barracks Hotel Sentosa, 2 Gunner Lane, Singapore 099567
My husband and I had a staycation here at the very beautiful and elegant Barracks Hotel Sentosa! Its colonial structures and fittings create a very regal, old-world charm kinda vibe throughout the property.
But don’t be fooled by its heritage exterior as the interior is very modern and contemporary! I liked how the design married elements of yesteryear traditions with the luxuries of modern-day technology. We had a very comfortable stay here! Don’t forget to ask the concierge for a buggy ride down to the beach if you need.

One Expensive Night in Barracks Hotel
Finally checked off this pricey but lovely staycay spot ❤️
To be honest, the $700/night range made me expect a lot and I’m really glad that my experience (kind of) justified the hole in my wallet 🥹
The room was fair sized at 39SqM but super classy and quaint, with fancy copper finishings running throughout the space. Very like! 🎉
Though … I wished there was more countertop space and a chilling spot enough for 2pax. 👻
The Living Room provided a very ncie respite from the relentless heat and all day refreshments worked as a lunch replacement ☀️
Evening cocktails stole the show with quality bites, fancy tea-based cocktails, and great service. We waddled out definitely heavier but confirm happier 🥂
Super happy that we experienced the same great service as my previous Far East Hospitality stays - Farez and Hafiz were stellar and part of the reason why I’m so smitten by this stay 🎖
Now, I’m really curious about those suites on level 1….. 💸💸💸

Flower arrangement workshop at The Barracks
All guests staying at The Barracks Hotel get to sign up for complimentary workshops that the hotel organizes from time to time! Before my husband and I checked in, we got a call from the front desk asking us if we would like to join in the flower arrangement workshop by the resort pool. We took them up on the offer immediately!
The workshop was held outside the lounge area beside the pool, which was the perfect location for a breezy fun time. We got to try out and create our own flower arrangements from scratch. The organizer lady even got us to present our bouquets to our other halves and say a word of thanks to them, really heartwarming!

The Barracks Hotel Sentosa
Address: 2 Gunner Ln, 099567
How to book swimming pool timing: Great news! There is no need to book a swimming pool time slot and there are also no restrictions on usage.
You can book their pool access room and enjoy the swimming pool at any time of the day. There are two long pools at The Barracks. At both corners of the rooms are exclusively for their suite guests but it is still connected to the main pool. There are plenty of sun tanning chairs and daybeds to choose from. Sometimes, you also can spot a mobile bar coming around to serve drinks to you. As all guests in The Barracks are entitled to high tea and canape cocktails hours at the lounge, this also means that you can also enjoy your drinks and snacks at the pool. I asked for an iced chocolate and Adikin from The Barracks was so kind to serve it in a disposable cup and brought me some snacks too. Yes, he brought it to the pool. Their service is always so nice and efficient. I can spend the whole day at the pool.

Where to dine at Sentosa’s Barracks Hotel
Address - Mess Hall at Sentosa, 12 Artillery Avenue, Singapore 099953
Located a short stroll from the beach, Mess Hall at Sentosa was previously a British military logistics building now converted into a space for restaurants serving many different types of cuisine!
I highly recommend the Japanese restaurant called Hidemasa by celebrity chef, Hide Yamamoto as the food is simply exquisite. They have teppanyaki, robatayaki and omakase options. However, prices are equally expensive too.
It is conveniently situated right across The Barracks Hotel as well, offering hotel guests the option of dining here. Some staycation packages come with $50 or $100 dining credit which can be utilized at Mess Hall!

Unforgettable Staycay @ The Barracks
Stayed at The Barracks for 2 nights and might I add that it was one of the best stays I have had in Singapore!
The ambiance of the hotel is very vintage, cozy and intimate.
The staff and management are very thoughtful and hospitable. They went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable.
The suite room is quite spacious and offers an excellent pool view from the patio.
The complimentary breakfast and evening canapés were our favourite routine of the day.
All of the staff at the hotel during our stay made a point to greet us by name and ensure we were being treated well and enjoying our stay, which made us feel very valued and welcome.
The hotel itself is gorgeous, with high quality, stylish finishes in the rooms and public spaces. The replenishable mini bar was a nice surprise, and we enjoyed the complimentary sparkling and still water in the room. The bed and linens were incredibly comfortable, and the shower was excellent, both pressure and temperature. We enjoyed the pools as well, though one was closed for half of our stay, and appreciated the extra poolside service including ice water and ice cream treats! The Living Room was enjoyable, with a decent selection of drinks and snacks available throughout the day.
Beach and Resorts World Sentosa are at a convenient walking distance.
All in all, we had a very pleasant stay at The Barracks and would absolutely love to go back again. ♥️

Buggy from Barracks to Siloso beach
#beachlife #momentssg #unforgettableexprience
I am so lucky to take an alternative from my usual beach escape. I checked in to The Barracks for two nights staycation, got buggy to arrive at Siloso in style. The Barracks was just a mobile phone call away to pick me up and buggy me back to
hotel. You definitely must visit the beaches on Sentosa on a weekday. You don’t have to book any time slot to enter the beach on a weekday. Plus, you can have most of the beach to yourself. I also saw many planes flying over Sentosa, built sandcastles and soaked in the cooling sea water. Oh yes! I did standup paddling too. The sea was pretty calm and easy to paddle. Super great fun to be at Sentosa.

The Barracks Premier Room with high ceiling
What an amazing coloured theme hotel at Sentosa, The Barracks Hotel. I love their black theme with rose gold appliances. I had their premium room for two nights over the second week of 2022. My premium room was on second level with high ceiling and a balcony overlooking the swimming pool.
I was stunned by their black colored bathtub, wide and long and amazing for a deep soaking experience. I am gonna put their bathtub into my list.
It is easy to come to Barracks, you can drop off at their carpark which is at basement. Else, you can take the sentosa express and alight at Imbiah station and walk over. I also used the free Sentosa buses and went to W Singapore too. The Barracks also have buggy rides to nearby Siloso beach area and I had a great time at the beach too. During off peak, there is no need to book timeslot to enter the beach. The nearby Mess hall has 7-11 and restaurants are nearby, great for a quick bite.
My room came with breakfast and lounge access and take note on their cocktails menu. Their five signature tea-based cocktails are a must order. My personal favourite will be their Whiskey sour earl grey. Their breakfast menu is a bit limited but still good for a short stay. They have 7 different menus for their lounge canape which is a good idea.
Many thanks to front office staff, Trisyiah and Adikin for their excellent services. When you see the hotel staff are happy, you will know that this is going to be a great staycation. Also, thanks to their great team at the lounge, Jeffrey, Husni and Hafiz for serving me and even buggy-ing me to the beach. Oh, I did not forget about Emily. She is so warm and friendly and even blend her own rose tea, You gotta try it when you are at The Barracks.
The two pools at The Barracks are great for soaking and chilling at their cabana. A special thanks to Adikin for his iced chocolate by the pool. I had an awesome time at The Barracks and planning for my next staycation.

Amazing barracks pool access room. I feel like I was away from Singapore. The check in was smooth and fast. I also had my room early.
This pool access room is also easily accessible for wheelchair.
The room came with a huge bathroom with bathtub and auto toilet. It also came with Atkinsons toiletries and mosquito repellent.
At the pool access area, I can have my alfresco dinning too. In the room, there was a special barracks hat, which can be used to take some cute photos.
Their cocktails hour was amazing, be sure to get an early slot to avoid the crowd. My breakfast on the following day was equally fantastic. Barracks also provided me with a buggy ride to Siloso beach. Upon return, they told me I just had to call them. Then they will buggy me back to Barracks too.
Excellent service at Barracks. I will revisit again in Jan next year.

Barracks Hotel singapore
Barracks is one of those lesser explored hotels in Singapore, possibly because of the steep price point and ulu location. Nonetheless, it was at the top of my to try list after seeing countless amazing photos. What can I say, the hotel exceeded my highest expectations 💁🏻♂️
