Marathon Excitement in Vientiane: Kit Collection Day
#favouriteitinerary
#TravelAndRun #Laos2025
As one of my annual travel and run tradition, I find myself in Laos for the first time, preparing to join the Vientiane International Half Marathon 2025. The excitement is palpable as I look forward to the race on Sunday.
Today was all about collecting my marathon kit at Thatluang Park. The vibrant energy at the event was infectious, with runners from all over the world coming together. I received my marathon t-shirt and race number, feeling a rush of anticipation as I imagined the starting line.
Thatluang Park, with its stunning backdrop of the Pha That Luang stupa, provided the perfect setting for this pre-race event. It's incredible to be part of such a well-organized marathon in this beautiful city. I can't wait to experience the race day atmosphere and join fellow runners on this exciting journey through Vientiane.

Vientiane city view
Vientiane, the capital city of Laos, is indeed a good place to visit, especially if you're interested in a more relaxed and culturally rich travel experience. If you’re looking for a destination that’s rich in history and culture but without the hustle and bustle of larger cities, Vientiane is a great choice.
- Pha That Luang: A gold-covered large Buddhist stupa and the most important national monument in Laos.
- Patuxay: Often referred to as the "Victory Gate," this monument is a war memorial dedicated to those who fought for independence from France.
- Wat Si Saket: The oldest temple in Vientiane, known for its thousands of Buddha statues.
