Atmosphere/Facilities: This time I went to Tashirojima and Matsushima in Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture!! I definitely recommend Tashirojima to people who love cats!! There are so many cats, it's really relaxing! I was able to spend a relaxing time there! 🐈🐈♡ One of the attractions of Matsushima is that the tourist spots are within walking distance and easy to access! If you go to Matsushima, I definitely recommend eating oysters before you go home! They're so delicious! You can't go wrong with them!! lol #Recommended for a date #Remote island trip

Tashirojima in Miyagi Prefecture is about 40 minutes by ferry from Ishinomaki. The island is not very populated, with only a few buildings that look like a campsite and a cafe. There are also many ruins and vacant houses. It was raining on the day we visited, but if you go on a sunny day, there are cats everywhere. They are very friendly. You can walk around the island. I went to Tashirojima in Miyagi Prefecture, a famous cat island among cat lovers. 😽 On the island, which is about 11 kilometers in circumference, the islanders and over 130 cats live together in harmony. The ferry departs from Ishinomaki Port ⛴️💨 When you go up to the ferry deck, you will see friendly seagulls, so kappa ebisen is a must 🕊️ Hand them over. Just grab kappa ebisen with your fingers and raise your hand, and they will come! If you have any leftover sweets, give them to children or couples around you. They will be happy because they don't know that information lol There are two ports on Tashirojima, Otomari Port and Nitoda Port. First, you can take a ferry to either port. On the island, the course you walk from one port to the other will be the walking course. So on the way back, take a ferry from a different port than the one you went to. An island that has more cats than human population! Tashirojima island! This place are mostly live by elderly age 65+ and above, no young resident. In the old days, farmers brought cats to this island to help with pest control for silkworm farm. There were many mice around and they decided to have cats to help around! Since then, the island has been living with more than 100 cats and only 60 residence. Visitors are not allowed to feed the cats! #japan
