A Weekend Trip to Tangshan: Two Days and One Night|||I always thought of Tangshan as an industrial city, but I didn't expect that tourism had developed so well in the past two years. Taking advantage of the weekend, I set off from Beijing for a two-day, one-night trip to Tangshan. 🚃🚃Transportation Saturday: G8801 Beijing Railway Station 7:42 AM - Tangshan Railway Station 8:46 AM Sunday: T5604 Tangshan North Railway Station 4:07 PM - Beijing Railway Station 5:34 PM 🗺️🗺️Itinerary Day 1: Zhao Zhuang Morning Market - Wujiazhuang Catholic Church - Peiren Historical and Cultural District - Dachengshan Park - Qixin 1889 - Hetou Old Street Day 2: Tangshan Feast - Nanhu Park 🌟Zhao Zhuang Morning Market: I arrived early Saturday morning, dropped my luggage at the hotel, and went straight to Zhao Zhuang Morning Market. The morning market was crowded, and the dining area was indoors. Beef Korean noodles cost CNY 8, a large fried pancake cost CNY 3, and a large bowl of tofu pudding cost CNY 3. The prices were touching, the taste was decent, and the atmosphere was lively. The environment wasn't great, so if you have high standards for dining, you might want to skip this. 🌟Wujiazhuang Catholic Church: The architecture is quite beautiful. There were almost no people when I went. The magnolia trees on the east side of the church were about to bloom, and it should be a great photo spot when they are in full bloom. 🌟Peirenli: The district isn't very big. The most historic part is probably Peiren Girls' High School. There's a wall with the characters for Tangshan written on it, some cafes and a library. The dog at Little Elephant Cafe is super cute. It's a nice place to sit and relax. 🌟Dachengshan Park: Dachengshan Park is right next to Peirenli. I didn't realize until I went in that Dacheng Mountain was originally called Tangshan, and this is how Tangshan got its name. I climbed Dacheng Mountain and Ercheng Mountain. Neither is very high, but it was a nice spring hike in Tangshan. 🌟Qixin 1889: A smaller version of 798 Art District. The outer area is still under renovation, but there were many people taking photos. 🌟Hetou Old Street: This was the highlight of the trip. The old street isn't particularly large, but there are many shops along the river, and the scenic area also has many activities. It's worth a visit. I went in around 4:00 or 5:00 PM, strolled around, and then watched the "Tang King's Eastern Expedition" performance at 6:30 PM. I highly recommend the performance. The molten iron fireworks were spectacular (see my previous post for details). The scenic area looks beautiful after dark, and it really does feel like a "Tang Dynasty City That Never Sleeps" on the water. It even snowed on Saturday, which made watching the fireworks even more special. I lined up to buy Xiaoshan Fried Cakes in the scenic area. The red bean flavor was quite delicious. 🌟Tangshan Feast: I walked more than 30,000 steps the first day, so I slept in and didn't go out until almost 11:00 AM on Sunday. I went straight to Tangshan Feast. It was very lively. The first floor has all kinds of snacks, the second floor has some cultural and creative products, and the third floor is a restaurant. I tried the fried glutinous rice crackers, Grandma's spring pancakes, spring water tofu, and Tang Xiaoshu yogurt, all of which were quite good. There are also many places to take photos and rest. If you're not in a hurry, you can spend an afternoon there. 🌟Nanhu Park: Nanhu Park is beautiful under the blue sky. It feels a bit like Beihai Park and the Summer Palace. The peach blossoms on Longshan Mountain were already in bloom, and it was very relaxing to walk around the lake. 🌿🌿On the way back, the sun hadn't set yet when I got out of Beijing Railway Station, so I quickly went to the nearby Ming City Wall. The plum blossoms were in full bloom, and it was a very fulfilling weekend to enjoy them in the sunset.
