The Fishing Villages in Penang
The fishing villages in Penang are another famous attraction. There are six main jetties in the fishing village zone: Lim Jetty, Yeoh Jetty, Mixed Jetty, Lee Jetty, Tan Jetty, and Chew Jetty. Chew Jetty is particularly popular among tourists because there are shops along both sides of the jetty.
However, we recommend Tan Jetty. It is a quiet and peaceful place, perfect for watching the sunset. This jetty is not yet crowded with tourists, making it a great check-in spot when visiting Penang.
Open: 24 hours.

Relaxing Morning Walk along Tan Jetty
Address: 48, Pengkalan Weld, George Town, 10300 George Town, Pulau Pinang, Malaysia
There are a total of 6 clan jetties around at Georgetown in Penang. These are also one of the tourist attractions of which lots of tourists visit. Among the 6, Tan Jetty has a super long wooden pier pathway which stretches out all the way to the sea. In the morning when the weather is still not so sunny, it's a nice quiet and relaxing walk along the wooden path to nowhere. There are also not a lot of people along the path too.

The Stunning Scenery of Chew Jetty's Waterfront Houses in Penang
Chew Jetty in Penang is one of George Town's famous waterfront villages, known for its traditional wooden walkways and elevated houses. This ancient water village has a history of over a hundred years, carrying the memories and cultural heritage of Penang's Chinese immigrants.
Walking along the wooden walkways, you can see the traditional waterfront houses towering over the sea. Although these buildings are simple, they exude a rich historical charm. As the sun rises or sets, the waterfront houses and the surrounding natural scenery create a stunning coastal picture. Especially at dusk, the interplay of light and shadow on the wooden walkways is particularly enchanting.
Chew Jetty is also an excellent place to learn about Penang's history and the local way of life. It offers a glimpse into the daily lives of the residents and attracts many tourists who come to admire the unique waterfront scenery.

Sunrise at Tan Jetty@Penang
Welcome to Penang, again. Anyone has experienced sunrise moment at one of the six remaining clan jetties of Penang, the Tan Jetty? The main selling point for Tan Jetty is definitely the picture-perfect backdrop of the little red house at the end of the wooden pier which makes it one of the most Instagrammable sunrise spot in Penang.
The best time to get the sunrise shot at Tan Jetty is between 7.10am(the blue hour) to 7:25am, except rainy days🤭.
Location: Weld Quay, George Town, Penang. P.C: 10300

Sunrise at 7.38am Tan Jetty, Penang
Wake at 5.30am, breakfast at the nearby popular dimsum Tai Tong restaurant that opens at 6.30am and then head to Tan Jetty to catch the mesmerizing sunrise. As the water receeds, you can walk on wooden planks not surrounded by water and catch pretty photos next to the landmark red building. On your way back, you can order prawn fritters at the food court next to the bridge. Side note, there is a parking space next to the food court. Meet the lovely dog Lily. and a brood of roosters and hens just wandering around in the early hours of the morning. Choose a day that is not raining for best experience..#cny2024 #sunrise #georgetownattractions

Penang's Clan Jetty
#penang
Tan Jetty is located at 48 Pengkalan Weld, 10300 Georgetown, it is around 650 meters 7 minutes walk from Weld Quay Jetty Bus Terminal.
Each jetty was named after a particular Chinese clan and the unique communities that emerged mostly engaged in Maritime related work such as transporting cargo fish and goods.
Tan Jetty is the longest among its other counterparts as it has a wooden pier that stretches from the mainland all the way out to the sea. Taking a walk through the village can be very relaxing.
As you walk to the end of Tan Jetty, you will see a floating village on the left hand side and a red house, that is Mazu Temple ( Goddess of Sea ).

Tan Jetty @Penang
Tan Jetty is part of 6 clan jetties along the waterfront Penang Island. Compare to Chew Jetty, Tan Jetty is smaller and less maintained. This clan jetty is for residential of Tan family, no commercial activities here.
What made it interesting was the small shrine at the end of jetty, making this place famous and instagramable. Due to the aging and less maintenance of the stilts and the corridor walkway, the public can't access the end of the jetty anymore, only residents there have the access—however, it is still the best clan jetty to take the picture.
This place is popular for local residents because of the food stall, and one of them is crispy prawn fritters and loh bak. I went there in the early morning; therefore I try the wanton mee and kopi. Other food selling there are bakkut teh, oyster porridge, hokkien mie, char kuey teow, prawn noddle.
Address: Tan Jetty, Weld Quay, 10300, Penang.
