Talat Noi is a historic and artistic community in Bangkok.
#JanuaryGoodPlaces2025
If you want to experience the beautiful scenery of Bangkok’s old town, it is recommended to visit the Talat Noi #達莱仔 community. Located on the other side of the Iconsiam River in Chao Phraya, from Holy Rosary Church to Song Wat Rd., this stretch of road is small and intricate, with a touch of the alleyways of Penang and Tainan.
Talat Noi was developed very early because it is located along the Chao Phraya River. It is a place where outsiders live and bring their cultural beliefs with them. Here you can see Chinese temples, European-style churches, and many machine parts factories. Walking through the mottled walls and alleys covered with modern graffiti, you can see the conflict and integration of historical intersections.
Talat Noi means "small market" in Thai. Many old houses have been transformed into hipster selections or specialty coffee shops. It is a good place to take photos wherever you turn a corner. It has a strong sense of history and local life.
It is recommended to stroll along "Schlongkorn Road" and "Yaowarat Road" together to experience the cultural customs along the Chao Phraya River and Chinatown, and taste street food by the way.

Talat Noi Museum: A Charming Local Attraction in the Talat Noi Community
Located along the Chao Phraya River, Talat Noi is one of Bangkok's oldest communities. It is now popular among tourists for its street art, old houses turned into cafes, and local snacks. To promote the area, a museum called Talat Noi Museum was established, offering an in-depth yet accessible introduction to the community's development history.
The museum is housed in an old factory building and spans three floors. The first floor features an information desk and a creative product area. Visitors can register their basic information to enjoy free admission. The air conditioning inside is very cool, making it a comfortable visit.
The second and third floors are exhibition rooms showcasing the origins and unique features of the Talat Noi community. There are many old photos and newspaper articles, which are quite commemorative. There are also some photo spots for visitors to take pictures. The museum is very thoughtfully designed and is well worth a visit.

Kudichin Portuguese Community, a century-old community in Bangkok
Bangkok is home to many century-old communities, such as the Samphanthawong community (dating back to the 18th century) centered around Chinatown, the Banglamphu community, a gathering place for nobles on the west side of the Grand Palace, and the Talat Noi community, known for its street art and old buildings. But among these communities, the Kudichin community is particularly special. It is dominated by Western culture and has a history of more than 200 years. It is an important mark left by Portuguese immigrants in Bangkok.
[History of the Kudichin Community]
Portugal was one of the first European countries to establish formal diplomatic and trade relations with Thailand (then Siam), a relationship that began in 1511. At that time, the Portuguese came to Siam as merchants, missionaries, and military advisers.
After the Ayutthaya Kingdom was captured by Burma in 1767, King Rama I of Thailand moved the capital to Bangkok and settled some Portuguese in a community along the Chao Phraya River, which is today's Kudichin community.
[Recommended Attractions]
Santa Cruz Church
· Built in the 1770s, it is one of the oldest Catholic churches in Bangkok. The design of the church incorporates Portuguese architectural styles, and although it has been renovated several times, it still retains some of its original features. It is the core landmark of the community and a witness to the history of the Portuguese integrating into Thai society.
Baan Kudichin Museum
· The museum provides a comprehensive overview of the history of the Portuguese in Bangkok, with sculptures, gardens, traditional houses, and handicrafts. I was attracted by an old wooden piano and couldn't help but play it for a long time.
· Featured food: The cafe here offers authentic Portuguese desserts, such as Foi Thong and Portuguese egg tarts, which are worth a try!
[Community Experience]
Walking through the alleys of the Kudichin community, you can see Jesus paintings and exquisite mailboxes of different styles hanging in every household. The community is full of the atmosphere of the collision of Portuguese and Thai cultures, quiet and charming.
In addition, there are also Jian An Palace and Guan Di Temple near the community, and visitors can connect these attractions to experience the multiculturalism of the area. It is a place worth spending an afternoon exploring.

🚶Take a walk around Talad Noi community. Stop by another popular photo check-in spot, which is the remains of an old float car with an old wall in the background with exposed bricks. So cool! 🚗
🏘️Talad Noi, or as people in the past called it "Talak Kia", is a commercial area that has been around since the early Rattanakosin period because it is located on the banks of the Chao Phraya River on the Phra Nakhon side. There is a pier for parking, so traveling is convenient both on land and water. At that time, many Chinese people settled here to do business and live there. We can still see traces on both sides of the road where we walked to explore and visit the way of life of this community, both traditional Chinese shops and many Chinese shrines, both small and large. 🧡🧡🧡
📢Open all the time. You can walk and take pictures all the time.

After that, we moved on to walk around #YaanSongwat. We walked from the parking lot about 200 meters to stop by for coffee and dessert at a special shop, which is a small secret cafe in Saphan Mon Alley. The shop has a loft and vintage feel, but it is quite small.
The menu we ordered was
☕️ Oat milk latte (80.-)
🍞 Signature bread 1 pair (100.-) Hot baked bread in the shape of a head, a special recipe of the shop, on top of cold homemade coconut ice cream. It was fragrant, creamy, smooth, not too sweet, very delicious.

👵🏻☕️ Mother Roaster ร้านกาแฟชื่อดังย่านตลาดน้อย
#VisitBangkok A famous coffee shop in Talad Noi that everyone must visit☕️😎 The shop is hidden in the Talad Noi community. Walk along the path, pass both old-style houses and street art walls, and gain another experience.
When we arrive at our destination, we will walk up the stairs to the 2nd floor. On the day we went, we met a cat to greet us. Inside the shop, the aroma of coffee is filled with the scent of coffee. If you want to sit at the bar and talk to the barista, there are many bar areas to choose from. Or if you want to sit and relax, there are comfortable sofas.
There are many coffee menus to choose from. There are many types of coffee beans. If you want to try a different scent, just ask.

🍃Reducing the green space in everyone's imagination
#NewYearNewTrip Bangkok design week - microtopia
Compressing everyone's imaginative green space into an art form that people can participate in.
Anyone who has been to Talad Noi recently must have walked past Cafe Vanic, which is like a wide area for sitting, sipping water, drinking coffee, and eating snacks. This year, the cafe has opened up an area for artists to draw their artwork, which is Microtopia, which simulates the green space that many people are looking for, with a train running around that area.
A point that can't be missed is the Microtopia artwork. We can become a part of the artwork and can take close-up photos of the cars and artwork. They put the pins in so that we can stand in the middle of the artist's artwork through the clear glass.
Another thing that I like is the layout of the cafe, which has other products for sale in a chic and cool style. Since it's a cafe with a wooden tone, putting products that are pictures on the wood is, to be honest, very cool. You have to see it with your own eyes to see if it's as they say.

Bangkok Design Week, the city's light and sound show
#NewYearNewTrip Bangkok design week - Attapat Talad Noi takes you to take pictures of the light and color exhibition in the city. Another place that you can't miss in Phase 1, where you have to reserve a place with a QR code before entering. The opening time is from 6:00 PM onwards. The keyword that the artist has set is to let go of old beliefs to open up space for yourself to try and experience new things. What we were most impressed with was the lines of light and color. The refraction of light makes the artwork have a lot of dimensions and is impressive every time that the light hits the floor, walls, or even the ceiling. #TaladNoi #BangkokAttractions #Art #EnjoyArt #Exhibition #VisitExhibitions #PopularPhotoSpots #Bangkok #VisitBangkok #Bangkok

Bangkok design week - hope ตลาดน้อย
#NewYearNewTrip hope Talad Noi
This is another highlight exhibition of phase 1. The artworks are in the Tantivejkul house in Talad Noi area, which many people must have walked past but never had the chance to enter because they were not open to the public.
The artworks express hope that different designs will create positive changes in society, like inspiring people. The highlight is the 3 artworks in the dark room downstairs (like being in the Awekening event). The first piece catches our eyes even before we enter because it stands out from afar. It can be defined as a dry lump of hope. On the left side is a wormhole-like artwork in space that plays with purple light contrasting nicely with the darkness of the room. Finally, on the right side, the artworks are concerned (in terms of artwork) that we are not sure what the organizer is trying to convey. But overall, it is quite outstanding.
However, we like the artworks that we are not sure if they can be called artworks, which are on the 2nd floor. They are windows that look out to the dragon pillars of the shrine. We don't know if the artist intended it or not, but it is the one that we like the most in this exhibition.

Captivated by this Beautiful Wat !
#favouriteitinerary While strolling around Talat Noi Bangkok’s Chinatown, my attention was caught by this amazing golden Wat Trimit Witthayaram. Wat Traimit is a notable example of early post-absolute monarchy Thai Buddhist temple architecture. The monks' residences were built in 1937, and the ubosot (ordination hall) was built in 1947 in the applied Thai style to designs by Luang Wisansinlapakam. A lot of Buddhist devotees come here to pray during my visit here.
