[2024 Yuli Attraction] Travel Guide for Taklimakan desert (Updated Dec)
Deserts
Address:
Niya, Hotan, Xinjiang, China
Recommended sightseeing time:
1 day
Deserts, Poplar forests, Lakes, off-season travel in Southern Xinjiang is not bad
📍Luobu Village
There was a warning earlier that the Poplar forest might be gone
So I feel lucky to encounter not just bare branches
"Desert for thousands of years, Poplar for a thousand years, Luobu people for a hundred years"
The early winter temperature starts to be unbearable, the scenic area Luobu people have retreated
There are fewer tourists along the way
The overall scene is more solemn and desolate in winter
But
The golden leaves on the ground of the Poplar forest form a carpet
The little brother is still fishing on the shallow beach of the Tarim River
The lake under the East Sand Mountain is still shining
Black swans are playing in pairs, as beautiful as a painting
Take the scenic spot sightseeing car from East Sand Mountain to Goddess Lake
Pass through the Taklamakan Desert all the way🏜️
Riding a camel in the desert and looking at the Goddess Lake
Still feel it's worth it
🎫: 50 (including sightseeing car)
⏱️: 10:00-18:30
🚗: It takes about 1.5h to drive from Kuerle city, there is a free parking lot at the entrance
❗️Notes
1⃣️It is recommended to take the scenic spot sightseeing car in two sections, the first section to Abudan Square. Most of the Poplar forest is on the way to East Sand Mountain, and then the second section belongs to East Sand Mountain-Goddess Lake-Abudan Square loop
2⃣️Most of the merchants have withdrawn this season, only a small amount of food is available at Abudan Square, but the commercialization mentioned by netizens is gone, and there are very few people, it's very comfortable to stroll around, and you can take pictures casually
3⃣️There are many projects in the scenic area, popular camel riding (80 yuan/person), glider, desert car, it was a bit cold and I just rode a camel and left, the scenery is really good

The vast Xinjiang is too big to imagine. There is only one Taklimakan desert road. It took 7 hours to drive from Aksu to Hotan. Taklimakan means the big desert below the mountain. It is called The Sea of Death and is the second largest mobile desert in the world. It is also rated as one of the five most beautiful deserts in China. The compound sand hills and sand ridges are like the dragons suffocating on the earth.
Hetian, Xinjiang, which is located in the border of the motherland, has been a place of cultural integration since ancient times. The mountains and rivers are magnificent and deserted. The multiculturalism and folk customs here are beautiful and colorful.
The site of the Hot Wake Buddha Temple, with a height of about 3 meters, is located in the desert 50 kilometers northwest of Luopu County in Hotan. The site was built in the 2nd to 3rd centuries. Its unique Buddhist temple architecture and Buddha image retain the original Gandhara style. It was an archaeological aid for the early study of Buddhism's introduction to the Western Regions and ancient sculpture art. Now it is the national focus. Cultural relics protection unit

National Geographic Taklamakan Desert Expedition
Today, I finally got a signal after coming out from the depths of the desert and reaching the new village of Riyabuyi. After living a wild life for two days, it was so fulfilling haha. Without a signal for these two days, I followed the ancient riverbed of the Keriya River deep into the heart of the desert, visiting the Dandan Uiliq and Karadong ruins along the way.
I stayed one night in the old village of Daliyabuyi. Although the old village had no electricity, no internet, and no running water, there were still residents living there. Unexpectedly, in such a remote area, the few villagers still insisted on the flag-raising ceremony every Monday. It felt like all the villagers came together, and when we sang the national anthem together, there was an indescribable sense of emotion. I cried while singing. Now the state has built a new village with better conditions for the locals, and the old village occasionally hosts tourists.
I must write an equipment guide after I rest a bit!
National Geographic expeditions are not commercial tour groups you find on the market! They are not commercial tour groups!! Do not join with the mindset of being a city beauty, but rather think of yourself as a wild person. Although there is a logistics support vehicle throughout the journey, after all, it goes to places that ordinary tour groups cannot reach, and the degree of commercialization is definitely not high, even primitive. Although I haven't bathed for two days, and my hair can't be combed due to the wind and sun, I think it's very worthwhile to see the scenery that others can't see.

Longing Like Sand—A Beautiful Legend in the Desert!~~.
Holding a handful of fine sand, slightly loosening the fingers, letting the light sand slowly sprinkle on one's dress. The fine sand grains seep through the skirt, dyeing the lotus-colored dress with a faint yellow. Handful after handful of yellow sand falls on the body, as if burying the most beautiful longing.
Longing Like Sand—A Beautiful Legend of the Taklamakan Desert; any affectionate woman, if she wears the most beautiful clothes and immerses herself in the rolling dust, heaven will give her a promise, turning her lifelong longing into a grain of light sand in the desert. For every lifetime of longing, heaven will sprinkle a grain of sand for her, thus creating the vast Taklamakan!
In the uninhabited desert, there is such a beautiful legend. When standing here, one will miss every person they care about in their heart. Some say longing is like the sea, but I prefer longing like sand!~~~~~
Desert Tour Recommendations:
Xinjiang's S21 Desert Highway: The S21 Desert Highway features landscapes such as oases, wetlands, and sea Yadan. The S21 project is designed to create a national "Top 100 Service Areas" and "Transport-Tourism Integration" demonstration service areas with high standards, truly building the brand system of the "Most Beautiful Desert Highway," the ethnic folk culture system, the smart travel service system, and the travel and tour design system. It reflects desert charm, wildlife protection, and green agricultural leisure themes, combining the strengths of many, and showcasing the diverse cultural combinations of the Corps culture, red culture, fishing and hunting culture, and nomadic culture.
Gansu: Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Spring
Distance from Dunhuang to Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Spring: 5 kilometers (about 10 minutes by car)
Scenic Area Ticket: 110 yuan (valid for 3 days)
Special Recommendations:
To take beautiful photos of Mingsha Mountain, you must go to the top of the mountain. To take beautiful daytime photos of Crescent Spring, it is best to go before the sun sets in the afternoon when there are fewer people and the light is better. To watch the sunset, pay attention to the sunset time of the day and allow an hour and a half to climb the sand mountain, otherwise, you might miss it halfway up.
Tips: Some advice for friends who want to go to the desert
1. About clothes: Remember not to wear blue-green and dark-colored clothes.
2. The best spot for shooting is on the roadside before reaching the core area of the scenic spot (but often there are many cars and people, all will be in the frame, and you can only edit them out later).
3. There is a parking lot in the core area (the observation deck does not require a ticket, but if you want to park in the parking lot, you need to buy a ticket).
You can choose to park for free on the roadside a few meters away from the core area (there are planned roadside parking spots, and after parking, you need to walk a few hundred meters to the observation deck, saving the ticket and parking fees).
4. Wear proper clothes. When you reach the observation deck, especially by the lake, the wind will be very strong and cold.
5. If the car is parked far away and you want to take photos by the lake, remember to bring all your sunscreen products. Do a good job of sun protection!

Taklamakan Desert scenery
The Taklamakan Desert is located in the Tarim Basin in southern Xinjiang. In the Uighur language, 'Tak', 'Tag', and 'Bog'da' in 'Bog'da' all mean mountain, and 'Lamakan' accurately translates to 'The Great Desert', carrying the meaning of 'vastness'. Therefore, 'Taklamakan' signifies 'The Great Desert at the foot of the mountains'. The desert spans about 1000 kilometers from east to west and is about 400 kilometers wide from north to south, with a total area of 337,600 square kilometers. It is the largest desert in China and the second-largest in the world, hence the name 'Taklamakan Great Desert'. It is also the world's largest shifting sand desert, with the largest area of moving sands. The altitude in the western and southern parts of the desert ranges between 1200 to 1500 meters, while the eastern and northern parts are between 800 to 1000 meters.

Robman Village, connected to the Taklimakan Desert, China's largest desert. The entire desert is about 1000 kilometers long. In Uyghur, Tucker, Tag and Borg are up The "Da (g / grid, soft voice)" is the meaning of the mountain. "Lamagan", the accurate translation should be "great desert", and the extension has the meaning of "broad". Therefore, "Taklimakan" means "the big desert below the mountain." The locals mentioned the Taklimakan Desert and always said: "If you go in, you can't come out..."
The Taklimakan Desert is mainly located in the center of the Tarim Basin in southern Xinjiang, a warm temperate arid desert. . What we are seeing now is just the tip of the edge.
In the evening, everyone ate local roast lamb in the village. In the Luobu village you can eat the most authentic lamb of the plow, and do it yourself. Happiness, Xinjiang people eat to promote disc action, so be sure to eat clean to go.

Taklimakan Desert is located in the center of the Tarim Basin in southern Xinjiang. The entire desert area is about 330,000 square kilometers, close to the size of 50 Shanghai. It is really like a sea.
In Xinjiang, there are two desert roads that can cross Taklimakan, one is the Luntai-Minfeng Desert Highway, and the second is the Alar-Wada Desert Highway. The two roads have their own advantages,
the first desert road, the Luntai-Minfeng Desert Highway, the whole journey is 580 kilometers, and it takes about 9 hours to drive.
The second desert road is the Alar-Wada desert highway. It takes 440 kilometers to drive. It takes about 6 hours to drive. There is still no accommodation along the road, but it is good enough to arrive in one day.
Self-driving tips
1, the two desert roads have better overall road conditions, basically tarmac roads, and occasionally there are some small pits. As long as you drive carefully, all types of vehicles can pass.
2, there is a section of speed measurement on the desert road of Minfeng Wheel, which is 280 kilometers long and has a speed limit of 60 kilometers. The partners who drive through this place need to pay attention.
3, there are almost no gas stations on the desert road. When crossing the desert road, you need to pay attention to the amount of oil.
4, to experience desert walking, you need to have a good physical condition and a wealth of outdoor experience, while paying attention to weather changes.
5, the Taklimakan Desert, for outdoor novices, we must do our best.
6, two desert roads, there is basically no place to stay on the way, when the trip is scheduled, it takes one day to finish.

Ending the journey of the Kuqa Grand Canyon, I came to the road and quietly waited for the next car that could take me west. Finally, a truck pulling the stone stopped and asked the destination to go to Hotan. I went to the car without hesitation, so I came to the desert road of Taklimakan, the car was crushed with the thirsty Gobi, and the desert was shrouded in the blue sky. The sloppy sloping grass slouched on the gravel, swinging the petite body down the wind. There are a few thin camel thorns that are almost burnt by the hot sun. The sand dates are licking the back of the malnutrition, and everything looks so desolate and lonely. The northwest wind was wrapped in broken sand and swept in the wilderness, and the life was so fragile here.
, a huge body of Populus euphratica came into view, my heart swayed. That piece of Populus euphratica, some live, some die, but some are still dead. Born, born high, dead, dead and tragic. Ah, the blue sky, the yellow sand, the brown trunk, the shackled branches, the beautiful crown of red and yellow, and the dizzying golden leaf, what a wonderful picture.
