A Hidden Gem: Takamatsu, a Perfect Transit City|One-Day Itinerary
Takamatsu is a quiet and beautiful city with an artistic and cultural atmosphere. You can enjoy the charm of the city or take a ferry from Takamatsu Port to explore the islands. It's a perfect city for a transit stop!
🔷🔷🔷My One-Day Itinerary in Takamatsu:
🚗Transportation: There are direct flights from Shanghai to Takamatsu, or you can take the Shinkansen from Osaka to Okayama Station and then take the JR to Takamatsu Station.
🏨Accommodation: Takamatsu Tokyu REI Hotel, a 10-minute walk from Takamatsu Station and a 15-minute walk from Takamatsu Port.
🗺️One-Day Itinerary in Takamatsu:
⏰Morning - Shikoku Aquarium (15-minute walk from JR Utazu Station)
🕐Noon - Lunch at the Shikoku Aquarium restaurant. The second-floor restaurant offers a great view of the sea, and the kids' meal is beautiful!
🕐Afternoon - Ritsurin Garden (5-minute walk from JR Ritsurin-Koen Station)
🕤Evening - Symbol Tower (5-minute walk from Takamatsu Station)
💎Attraction Highlights:
📍 Shikoku Aquarium: Opened in 2020, it is the most popular aquarium in Kagawa. It is built by the sea, offering a unique geographical advantage and a beautiful view! The two-story aquarium is themed around the waters of Shikoku, where you can see dolphin, sea lion, and otter shows! There are also several great photo spots that you shouldn't miss!
📍 Ritsurin Garden: A Michelin three-star garden! It is divided into the South Garden and the North Garden. The South Garden is more Japanese-style and more enjoyable to visit. The best view of Ritsurin Garden is from the top of Mt. Shiun, where you can see the red bridge. You can also enjoy a cup of matcha in the garden and quietly appreciate its beauty!
📍 Symbol Tower: The tallest building in Takamatsu! You can take the elevator to the 29th and 30th floors for free and enjoy a panoramic view of Takamatsu. You can see the sunset in the evening and the beautiful lights at night!
📌Tips:
1️⃣ The Shikoku Aquarium is closed for maintenance in winter, so check the opening hours online in advance to avoid disappointment! Check the daily animal show schedule at the entrance, as some shows are only held once a day, so don't miss them!
2️⃣ The South Garden of Ritsurin Garden is more recommended, as the attractions are all in the South Garden. The North Garden is just trees and flowers, so you can take a quick walk around. If you don't have much time, just take a walk around the South Garden.
3️⃣ There are signs on the first floor of Symbol Tower. There are two restaurants on the 29th and 30th floors. The 29th floor is like a café where you can sit by the window and enjoy the view, while the 30th floor requires a reservation!

Souvenir Shop Shikoku Shop 88 near Takamatsu Station
Operating Hours: 10:00-21:00
Address: 2-1 Sunport, Takamatsu, Kagawa 760-0019
✔️This souvenir shop is located on the first floor of the Symbol Tower. They have the most Yadon-related souvenirs here! There's also a place where you can take pictures with Yadon, so if you like Yadon, be sure to visit!
✔️The Yadon photo booth costs 600 yen and does not give change, so I exchanged money at the souvenir shop.
✔️They also have udon and olive-related products. The price of olive cider here is not much different from other places (about 100 yen difference), so I bought and drank it here. It's quite good, so give it a try!

An observation deck that is easy to visit 📍Takamatsu Symbol Tower Observatory
#10월여행지원금이벤트
Hours: 10:00-22:30
Address: 2-1 Sunport, Takamatsu, Kagawa 760-0019
✔️It's a free observation deck on the 29th floor of the Symbol Tower. But it's a bit ambiguous because it's right next to a bar. There are people drinking next to it, so there's no place to sit and it's a bit awkward. So it might be better to use the bar together.
✔️You don't have to go there, but if your accommodation is nearby or you have something to do at Takamatsu Station, just come and go!
도쿄이끼마쇼
Takamatsu Symbol Towel
Address: 2-1 Sunport, Takamatsu, Kagawa 760-0019, Japan.
Getting there: Sunport Takamatsu is just outside of JR Takamatsu Station and is across the street from Takamatsu Castle.
Highlights: The Takamatsu Symbol Tower is the tallest building of Sunport Takamatsu. This tower is the city's major landmark and part of the Sunport Takamatsu redevelopment project of Takamatsu's port area. 😬
It is a 30 story office building with the Maritime Plaza shopping center on its lower floors and several fine dining options on its top floors. There are also great views from the restaurants on the 29th and 30th floors as well as the special observation deck.
Opening hours: 8.45am to 5.30pm daily.
