Kaohsiung Qiaotou Sugar Factory: Good Food and Good Shopping
Kaohsiung Qiaotou Sugar Factory (Taiwan Sugar Museum) was founded in 1901. It is Taiwan's first modern mechanical sugar factory. Tickets to Qiaotou Sugar Factory are free, and there are many fun attractions.
After Taiwan's restoration, it was renamed the Taiwan Sugar Corporation Kaohsiung Factory. It was Taiwan's first sugar-making factory with modern machinery. It has 19 historical sites, including Baroque-style tropical colonial-style buildings and a life-size bronze statue of Guanyin. It was one of the important bases for early sugar-making in Taiwan.
The site is very large and contains rich natural ecology, such as damselflies, red-bellied squirrels, thin-winged dragonflies, eight-colored birds, five-colored birds, stag beetles, pale yellow butterflies, etc., which are all common here. In addition, there are many buildings in the factory area that are left over from the Japanese colonial era, such as: Japanese-style dormitories, garden landscapes, air-raid shelters, ammunition depots, red brick water towers and warehouses, etc. In addition, of course, you must eat ice cream when you come to the sugar factory. I had a longan rice cake flavored popsicle, which was very delicious. The Taicheng buns in the park are also very unique!
