We started off on a train ride to get a sense of the layout and subsequently walked to see some animals up close. We went during the day where most animals would be sleeping. Would not mind going back again for the Night Safari option. The Zoo keeper that drive the train was friendly and explaining the animals and their background story through out the 30 minutes round trip in the zoo.The animals had a lot of space and were in their natural environment. Overall, I highly recommend Taiping Zoo to anyone looking for a fun and educational day out with their family. For the price paid, I think its a very good time to spend with family here. Only downside were some areas were closed. Also suggestion to have events throughout the day such as feeding spectacle or something more engaging with visitors. Animals looked like were taken good care of. Very suitable place for parent-child travel, and there are many animals to watch, and amazing night safari.

I've visited this zoo a few times already and it never seems to bore me and my kids. This time i can see they are doing a lot of maintenance work to improve visitors' experiences. So of course this is another reason for me to revisit this zoo in few more months. This zoo is pretty huge, so make sure that you wear proper clothes. There are kiosk that sell snack and drinks inside the zoo. There are also trams if you dont want to explore this zoo on foot. I forgot to take pictures at the ticket counter but the ticket price is very affordable. The price for me, husband and our two kids only cost us RM48. The parking space around this zoo is huge as this zoo located around Taman Tasik Taiping. After your visit to the zoo, you can just chill around the park while watching your kids play at the playground. I'm sure going to visit this zoo again in near future.

It was so nice to walk around Taiping Zoo. I like the African Savanna the most. Those Giraffes, Zebras, and Elephants were impressive. Upon entrance, I highly recommend to take the tram ride to go one round in the Zoo. This ride will cover all animals and almost all sections. Later, you may walk to the places you want to explore more. There are snacks and ice cream stalls in the Zoo. Must try the Cookies Ice Cream (RM8) and Jumbo Hotdog (RM4), delicious. For kids, there is a playground, even though a bit run down, but still ok and safe to play. If you like to see the animals at night, they have combo tickets for Night Safari, just add a few dollars only. Worth visiting. A day zoo turns into night safari in the evening. Quite a “wild” experience, you can literary touch the giraffe, and buaya are just under your feet. Only wish that overall it can be better maintained, better landscape design while keeping the “wild” factor. The tram driver and visitors should also stop shinning torch light at the lions and tigers and shouting at them. My all time favourite place to visit when I’m in Taiping. Well maintained, well run. The layout makes the flow very easy to follow. It’s a great experience. The lions are spectacular. The enclosures look old, but they still feel safe. We had the pleasure of witnessing the zookeepers feeding the animals. Wouldn’t trade that experience with anything else in the world A bit disappointing because many of the cages were under maintenance, there were no animal present. Almost 30 to 40 percent empty. The google maps show 8 am morning time but zoo opens at 8 30. Tram ride included in ticket . The tram drivers in the morning will take up late and hence you need to wait more to be able to take it. The best way is to take a whole trip of tram first to see areas of interest and then take a walking tour. Spend more time between 9 to 11 as it is their feeding time.

This is a must visit place in Taiping. Because this could be one of the best zoos in Malaysia. 🥰 We are lucky to see most of the animals there. Most of them are old but healthy. That's me trying to get a decent picture with the bird 🤣 The Night Safari was fun! I went on a Sunday Night, despite having many people around still waiting for the trem, we got on around 10pm and finished around 10.30pm and actually got to see the animals. That depends on whether your trem driver is patient or just want to get it on with. Some animals are difficult to spot but once the trem trip's finished, you can walk around by yourselves. Just watch out and bring a flashlight if possible because some of the roads inside are quite dark, you'll need some light. #malaysiatrip This zoo is well maintained enough to put the KL's Zoo Negara to complete shame. Initially went for the Night Safari, which was alright, although I could hardly see much of anything. The zoo guide would shine their high powered beam torches at the animals to point them out to visitors, not something I agree with, but then again, you won't spot them otherwise. But the Night Safari wasn't enough, so I went again the next day early in the morning. Much better in the morning as it is quieter (not so hot too) and one can really appreciate the entire landscape of the zoo and animals. If you have the patience for it, there's an EV bus that does its rounds every 2 hours (or so I'm told) that starts from the Taiping Zoo and then round all the Heritage Trail areas around Taiping town. Grab Car to most places costs about RM 5 per way (more or less).

Revisiting Taiping Zoo after so long, after more than 10 years ago. It's a lot nicer now. No wild monkeys would chased you down 🤣 The zoo looks more appealing now with cleaner paths and less eerily forest on both sides of the paths. Although there's more buildings now greenery still consumed most of the space. Toilets should be maintained more though.
