Tai Dam Cultural Centre
Ban Na Pa Naat is a village of Tai Dam people whose ancestors were rounded up from Phuan when the Thais led an army to suppress the Haw in 1875 because the Haw were attacking Chiang Kwang, an important city of the Phuan state. Bangkok organized an army with Phraya Phuttharaphai as the commander to lead the army to suppress the Haw and rounded up people from the Phuan state to immigrate to Thailand. The Tai Dam people who were rounded up at that time settled in many places. Later, the governor of Borikhan came to ask for some of the people to return to Chiang Kwang. King Chulalongkorn agreed to let the Tai Dam emigrate as requested. When they arrived in Lom, some Tai Dam settled in Lom Sak, while some returned to Chiang Kwang. However, some groups, upon reaching Chiang Kwang, found that there was no suitable place to settle, so they invited them to immigrate back to Lom Sak as before, crossing the Mekong River and landing at Ban Songo (south of Pak Chom District) along the route from Ban Pak Pat, Na Kho, and through to Tha Bom, establishing houses at Tha Bom. Later, they moved to Ban Na Ben and then permanently moved to Ban Na Pa Nat around 1905 because it was rich. There were a total of 15 families who migrated at that time. #Loei
