[2025 San Nicolas Attraction] Travel Guide for Taal Volcano (Updated Mar)

It was a trip to Tagaytay, Philippines. When we visited there, we were blown away by its breathtaking views, cooler climate, and the many picturesque spots perfect for photos 📸 We kicked off our trip at Antonio’s, an iconic restaurant that offers not just delectable food but also a serene view of Taal Lake. Their garden ambiance and rustic interiors make it an ideal spot for those Instagram-worthy breakfast 🍳 shots. We loved their homemade chorizo and fresh coffee ☕️ which made the visit even more special. 📍Aguinaldo Highway, Barangay Neogan, Tagaytay City We also explored People’s Park in the Sky, an old palace on a hill that offers panoramic views of Taal Volcano 🌋 and the surrounding greenery 🌴 This spot is perfect for both landscape photography and candid shots with the cool breeze in the background. P/S: Visit mid-morning for the clearest skies ☀️and fewer crowds. 📍Mount Sungay Road, Barangay Dapdap West, Tagaytay City We also visited Balay Dako and I would highly recommend this place for its authentic Filipino dishes 🥘 and stunning architecture. The view from their terrace overlooking the lake is simply unmatched. Their crispy lechon kawali paired with the refreshing dalandan juice 🥤 was unforgettable💯💯💯 📍Tagaytay-Nasugbu Highway, Barangay Neogan, Tagaytay City We then visited Twin Lakes, a charming European-inspired community with cobblestone pathways and a vineyard vibe. It’s a perfect place for taking lifestyle shots 📸 while sipping coffee ☕️ at Starbucks with Taal Volcano as your backdrop. 📍Tagaytay-Nasugbu Highway, Barangay Dayap Itaas, Laurel, Batangas For sunset, we headed to Skyranch, where we enjoyed the rides and took stunning sunset photos from the Ferris wheel. We explored the amusement park as the golden hour bathed the area in soft light, making it a perfect time for pictures. A day trip to Batangas is perfect as it is filled with ancestral houses and structures sporting architecture dating back to the 19th century and the Spanish colonial era. There are more than a hundred heritage structures in the Taal heritage town. Don’t miss the Taal Basilica Minore de San Martin de Tours and several museums and learn more about the history of the town. Batangas boasts its old native hand embroidery known as Burdang Taal. It involves a long painstaking process from the initial gathering and drying of raw materials like pineapple and abaca fibres to weaving these fibres using a loom. Wasn't able to go to Volcano Island this time as it has recently erupted and caused bush fires this earlier month. No boats are allowed due to safety restrictions. Tar Volcano - a volcano among volcanoes Tagaytay is a popular tourist destination in the Philippines (I would say even Filipinos would choose this place for a weekend getaway😮) The most famous thing in Tagaytay is to see the beautiful views of Taal Volcano Taal is the shortest active volcano in the world🌋 It’s also the only active volcano in the world in the middle of a lake (it seems). I guess a volcanic lake slowly formed long ago after the big volcano burst Then it exploded again in the middle, forming the "little volcanic island" (?) in the middle 🤯 (Geography experts please advise 🙇🏻♀️🙏🏼) I googled the photos, people used to climb the island of Taal volcano, and there is another volcanic lake in the middle😮 When I was doing research, I felt a little surprised just imagining it😂😮 But it is always an active volcano🌋, and in recent years there are signs that it will explode at any time😱 There was a strong explosion in 2020. In addition to nearby residents who had to evacuate, schools and work were suspended, even takeoff and landing flights were all suspended😳😳😳 Then to last year, even April-May this year there were still some steam eruptions detected 😱😰😰 The local government has declared it a permanent danger zone. It is now strictly prohibited to go to the island.
