Ancient city Angkor Wat in the morning light
Cambodia · Angkor Wat, Ta Prohm Temple, Siem Reap City
Before dawn, we set out on the road to Angkor Wat, just to see the legendary sunrise spectacle. The sky gradually brightened, and the light slowly rose from behind the spire, and the stone city sleeping in the dark was slowly awakened. At that moment, we stood by the ancient porch, looking at the silhouette of the main hall of Angkor, and our hearts were inexplicably quiet.
Angkor Wat, a temple built in the 12th century, is the pride of the Khmer Empire and one of the seven wonders of the world. It is not only a temple, but also a whole city woven from stone. From the mythological stories in the reliefs to the mottled moss marks on the corners of the walls, every inch of stone bricks tells the faith and glory of thousands of years ago.
Continuing deeper, we came to Ta Prohm Temple. Unlike the grandeur of Angkor Wat, it is a kind of tranquility surrounded by nature and forgotten by time. Tall trees grow out of the broken roof, intertwined and entangled with the remains of the temple. Standing under the tree and looking up, I seemed to hear the sound of the wind blowing through the years.
After leaving the ancient monuments, we returned to the urban area of Cambodia, walked and ate, and felt a wonderful atmosphere of "fusion of ancient and modern" in the streets and alleys. On one side are the ruins of a thousand-year-old civilization, and on the other side is the city life with motorcycles roaring and cafes lined up. History and the present exist side by side.
Traveling is a way to communicate with the world. And this time, Angkor brought us not only amazement, but also a quiet and profound echo.
