Historic buildings
Located in Kanyakumari, at the southern tip of Tamil Nadu, India, the Vivekananda Rock Memorial is a landmark building that combines history, religion and architectural art. The memorial is located on a rocky island near the coast. It is said that in 1892, Indian philosopher and religious reformer Swami Vivekananda meditated here for three days and gained enlightenment. He then went to Chicago to attend the World Congress of Religions and spread Indian philosophy and spiritual culture to the West. The memorial was built in 1970 and consists of two main parts: the Vivekananda Hall and the Holy Foot Hall. The former has a meditation hall and a meeting hall for tourists to meditate; the latter houses a sacred stone that is said to have the footprints of the goddess Kanyakumari, which has important religious significance. The architectural style incorporates the architectural features of temples across India, reflecting the common admiration of the people of the country for the spirit of Vivekananda. Standing on the memorial, you can enjoy the magnificent view of the confluence of the Arabian Sea, the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean. It is an ideal place to experience India's spiritual culture and natural beauty.
