Suzhou Trip - Suzhou Bay Museum
1
Suzhou Bay Museum.
This was an unexpected surprise brought by staying at the Hengli Grand Hotel in Suzhou Bay.
The original plan was to stroll around the city.
While overlooking Taihu Lake, I saw the Suzhou Bay Grand Theater. After a quick search, I found out that the Suzhou Bay Museum and the Grand Theater are next to each other, right opposite the Hengli Grand Hotel.
2
Suzhou Bay Museum. A local comprehensive museum reflecting the historical culture and socio-economic development of Wujiang. It is integrated with the Suzhou Bay Grand Theater through two curved buildings.
Designed by Pritzker Prize winner, the famous French designer Christian de Portzamparc. He believes that the harmony between heaven and man is the essence of Chinese philosophy and poetry.
The two curves are like two 'ribbons', resembling the water sleeves in Kunqu opera, existing in the landscape of the entire city in the form of curves and counter-curves, linking the city, lake, sky, and people, embodying the beauty of the thousand-year-old water sleeves and the implicit poetry of Suzhou gardens.
3
The entire museum has an exhibition area of 5,700 square meters.
It houses more than 20,000 cultural relics.
The first floor is used for domestic and international fine exhibitions.
The fourth floor has a permanent exhibition 'Wu Yun Jiangnan - Wujiang Historical and Cultural Display.'
We saw 'Boats and Silk,' which tells the story of the Silk Road and the Grand Canal. It is divided into four units: 'Ancient Path,' 'Trade,' 'Integration,' and 'Accessibility.'
Especially when we saw the display of the 'Pyramid' brand silk thread that participated in the first World Silk Expo, we were stunned. The handmade works of ancient Chinese people are beyond my imagination in beauty. The real silk, finer than a hair, presented so vividly before our eyes, is truly an 'artwork.'
4
Qing Dynasty embroidered clothes. The combination of every stitch and thread. Exquisite embroidery skills. Vivid patterns. Symmetrical floral designs, asymmetrical color presentations. The designer's little thoughts are fully revealed. Such embroiderers must have been incredibly talented. A beautiful embroidered garment also carries the hopes of many people - the 'embroiderer' stitches wishes into the clothes, the 'wearer' hopes 'clouds think of clothes, flowers think of beauty, spring breeze brushes the threshold, dew shines brightly.' The 'viewer' is amazed by the touch of red and recalls 'suddenly looking back, that person is in the dim light.'
True luxury.
In my eyes, it is the meticulously handmade works.
Uniform works, no matter how high the price, lack soul.
Things with soul and spirit, just one glance, and they last forever.
You can see the beauty, joy, happiness, pain, sorrow, and the sense of story under the traces of history, the different versions of existence in everyone's heart, the 'light and shadow.'
5
The wisdom of our ancestors.
Is half lost and half awakened in us.
Any of their casual handmade items, when brought out, are classic works that shock the world.
We. Still. Have a bit of a late awakening in our bloodline.
Inheritance. Is a long and arduous task.

The aftereffect of 'The Vanishing Her' is so powerful!!!
The performance of 'The Vanishing Her' at the Suzhou Bay Grand Theater is absolutely amazing! It has sparked a mystery storm🌪️
As soon as you enter, you can receive a passport✅, and you instantly feel as if you've traveled to Pattaya in a second💚, with the atmosphere maxed out!
This is not just a performance, but also a combination of escape room puzzles➕role-playing➕murder mystery games, making you feel integrated into the plot.
I must say, the rotating blind box stage this time is really innovative and unique! Presented in the form of blind boxes, you never know what kind of surprise or scare will appear next😜. Moreover, the audience can actually participate in the plot deduction and vote to decide the outcome, which is really awesome interactivity, much more interesting than just watching the movie version🎞️
Especially the double-layer 360-degree rotating stage, it's so cool, every rotation brings a new perspective and tension, keeping your heart hanging in your throat😰
If you are a mystery enthusiast, you definitely shouldn't miss 'The Vanishing Her' at the Suzhou Bay Grand Theater.

A dream of Red Mansions, half a lifetime of desolation
Daiyu enters the mansion, borrows plum blossoms from Miaoyu🌸, lies drunk among the peony bushes...
On stage, each judgmental phrase is projected in the form of candlelight🕯️
Between the opening and closing of the curtains
'Restoring' the classic scenes from the original novel 'Dream of the Red Chamber'
Casting aside splendor and power💰
The heavy official robes👔, like puppet shells, deeply lock away the Empress Yuan
In the 'Flower Burial'
Twelve women dressed in long robes, with their hair flowing
Is it the burial of people by flowers🌸, or the burial of flowers by people🌼?
Different from the usual dance drama's grand🩰 dance moves and body display
In 'Return to the Great Wilderness', twelve girls just sit quietly💺
Without any movement, this scene once puzzled drama fans, but now it is also regarded as a classic.
Inside and outside the drama
Whether it's the creators, dancers💃, or the audience
Everyone can find their own interpretation and answer to the plot
This stems from the accumulation of traditional Chinese literature and the concept of leaving blank spaces in Eastern aesthetics that has existed since ancient times
The 'leaving blank' that conforms to Chinese🇨🇳 artistic aesthetics
And the integration of plot, performance, music, etc.
Is also the charm of the national dance drama 'Dream of the Red Chamber'

I spent the New Year with the Yanghua version of 'Like a Dream'!
On the last day of 2023, I took a high-speed train from Shanghai to Suzhou to watch a life-long dream of 'Like a Dream' that lasted 8 hours.
In the lotus pond area, I watched Xu Qing, Zhang Han, Zhao Ziqi, Zhang Liang... a group of actors at close range, with a strong sense of immersion. The story goes from Taipei to Paris, from Normandy to Shanghai, as if I saw myself in the story.
PS: During the intermission, grand fireworks were set off outside the Suzhou Bay Grand Theater, which was really dazzling! I want to visit Suzhou more in the future~
