Suzhou Stele Inscription Museum is a professional museum in China, facing Canglang Pavilion across the street. Now it has become a world of inscriptions, with more than 1,000 steles of various types. The 223 economic inscriptions displayed in the corridor are the first-hand materials for studying the budding of capitalism in Suzhou during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The main hall, Dacheng Hall, is 7 bays wide and 6 bays deep, with double-eaved four-arched roofs, a platform in front, surrounded by stone railings, and a rigorous structure. It is spacious and grand, and is a precious Ming Dynasty palace in Jiangnan. The hall displays Suzhou stele rubbings, which are divided into 4 categories: figures, history, monuments, and calligraphy, reflecting Suzhou's long history and splendid culture. The basic displays of the museum include: "Display of Stone Carvings of Confucius Culture", "Display of Five Aspects of Calligraphy Art through the Ages", "Display of Stele Inscriptions on Suzhou's Industrial and Commercial Economy in the Qing Dynasty", "Display of Stele Inscriptions on Ancient Suzhou's Agricultural Economy", "Display of Stele Inscriptions on Astronomy, Geography, Emperors' Succession Maps, and Pingjiang Maps", "Display of Stele Inscriptions on Confucianism", "Display of Stele Inscriptions on Images", etc. Among them, the "Display of Stele Inscriptions on Astronomy, Geography, Emperors' Succession Maps, and Pingjiang Maps" from the Song Dynasty and the "Display of Stele Inscriptions on Suzhou's Industrial and Commercial Economy in the Qing Dynasty" are representative. The Dacheng Hall has a "Suzhou Historical Stele Rubbings Exhibition", with hundreds of rubbings on display, divided into four categories: historical figures, scenic spots and historical sites, Wuzhong documents, and calligraphy art. Many of them are rare and unique copies. Among them, the inscription on the "Han Shizhong Tomb Shendao Stele" is more than 13,900 words long. The majestic stone and the large number of characters on the stele are rare in China. The image stele includes the images of Confucius and his 72 disciples, Bai Juyi, Su Dongpo, Hai Rui, Wen Zhengming, Gu Yanwu, Zhang Taiyan, etc., which are very precious. The scenic spots and historical sites such as "Canglang Pavilion" and "Ruiguang Pagoda", "Pingfu Tie" by Lu Ji of the Jin Dynasty, the handwriting of the three Su brothers, Zhu Yunming's cursive script, Wen Zhengming's running cursive script, etc., are all calligraphy treasures. There is a gallery of steles of modern calligraphy celebrities, and on the south wall there is a gallery of epitaphs from past dynasties unearthed in Suzhou.
