His dying wish was to be buried in the mountains in Nanjing, hence this beautiful mausoleum being built. The view from the top of the incredible amount of steps is beautiful, but what I found more interesting was the buildings themselves, with a unique mixture of Chinese and Western architectural elements.

Zhongshan ling is one of the best attractions to visit Nanjing. It is free and you just need to pay 10 or 20yuan for buses to bring you up closer to where you can start your hike up the long flight of stairs. It seems like it’s a thing for all China attractions to have chartered buses to bring you closer to all these attractions from the front gate to the final location. The place is just too big. Once at the base of the temple you can see Sun yat sun’s statue. It is best to allocate at least 2-3hrs for Zhongshan ling as it is close to the meiling palace too. Super nice views from the top!
