Suizen-ji Jōju-en @ Kumamoto 🇯🇵
#cherryblossom2024
Suizen-ji Jōju-en, located in Kumamoto, Japan, is a stunning Japanese garden renowned for its tranquil beauty and historical significance.
Constructed in the early 17th century during the Edo period, the garden was designed to resemble famous scenic spots from across Japan, offering visitors a miniature representation of the country's diverse landscapes. Suizen-ji Jōju-en features a central pond surrounded by lush greenery, with meticulously manicured trees and shrubs adding to its serene ambiance.
The garden is also home to the Izumi Shrine, dedicated to the Hosokawa clan, who were the former feudal lords of Kumamoto. Suizen-ji Jōju-en is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike, providing a peaceful retreat from the bustle of city life.
My rating: 4.5 ⭐️ out of 5!
Suizenji: A Great Place to Enjoy Beautiful Scenery.
Suizenji
There are many food stalls around the attraction.
Having had a full meal for lunch,
I couldn't try the snacks.
Ice cream or some matcha desserts are still possible,
but they are all priced for tourists.
The Japanese set meal for lunch was stewed pork.
The green beans on top of the pork were quite hard, which was unexpected.
The side dish of fish was tastier, and I finished a bowl of white rice.
The orange was given to the traveler sitting next to me.
The ultimate Japanese scenery, Suizenji Jojuen Garden is full of surprises
After taking the tram from Kumamoto Station, you arrive at Suizenji Jojuen Garden.
Suizenji Jojuen Garden is a Japanese-style garden, but unlike the small and exquisite ones we're used to, its scenery can be admired from both far and near.
From a distance, you can see the garden's imitation of Mount Fuji and the lake view...
Up close, there are colorful koi, the water shrine, and the longevity water...
It's a highly enjoyable place where two hours can pass by without you noticing, and it's a great spot to take a leisurely stroll and clear your mind under the sun. The cherry blossoms should be even more beautiful now that they are in full bloom 😎
Fun Fact: The garden's design is inspired by Utagawa Hiroshige's ukiyo-e 'The Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido' ('The Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido' refers to the 53 post stations between Edo and Kyoto during the Edo period). The name 'Jojuen' comes from Tao Yuanming's 'Returning Home' which mentions 'the garden becomes more enchanting as one wanders through it.' It was first established by the first lord of the Kumamoto Domain, Hosokawa Tadatoshi, in 1636 with the construction of the 'Suizenji Tea House.' Later, during the time of Hosokawa Tsunatoshi, springs and artificial hills were added, and in 1776, the east side's horse grounds were completed, giving it the appearance it has today. The central Suizenji Fuji is the symbolic landmark of the garden. Every spring and autumn, horseback archery competitions are also held.
Beautifully landscaped Suizenji Jojuen Garden
Japan has many beautiful landscape gardens that are well maintained for visitors to take a relaxing stroll and bask in its serenity and beauty of the scenery.
Suizenji Jojuen garden is a garden in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan, which is a stone's throw away from Kumamoto Castle and the city centre. It is also one of Japan's most beautiful tsukiyama gardens or hill gardens. This is because there are small rolling artificial hills landscaped in this garden.
One of the highlights of the garden is the mini version of Mount Fuji or Fuji Tsukiyama, which is the main artificial hill created to imitate the real deal. Of course, here is where you can get to view lush greenery. Pretty sure that the place is another sakura season spot too. There is also a freshwater lake fed by a natural spring.
Admission fee is required to enter the garden.

Shuiqian Temple Chengqu Garden, a garden built by Kumamoto's main Hosokawa Chung-li for three generations, has been designated as a national historical site.
It is centered on the Aso Mountain submerged flow pool and has a fake mountain that mimics Mount Fuji. The big scene is small, atmospheric and pocket-sized, majestic and elegant.
The thatched cottage The Ancient and Modern Teaching Room, which was built from the Kyoto Imperial Palace, is the best view of the garden.
You can order matcha here, sit on the tatami, and enjoy the splendid mountains and rivers.
Shuiqian Temple into a fun garden, with a very exquisite landscape garden, like a potted exquisite.
This is my inadvertent arrival (departure), the name of the garden comes from Tao Yuanming, "Going to the Donkey": Garden Day is involved in interest ~
The Suiqian Temple in Kumamoto, Japan was built in 1636. It was originally the tea house of Hiroshi Hosokawa, the first generation of Hiroshi Hosokawa, and was known as the "Shuizenji Tea House". The present garden was built in 1671, in Zhonglizhi. The period of Sun Xichuan Gangli was completed and it was named Shuiqian Temple Chengqu Garden. The small garden is like a huge bonsai. The design of the garden is taken from the ukiyo-e painting of "Golden World, fifty-three times in Tokaido". It is from the Edo to Kyoto, and the beauty of 53 places on the way is also One by one is concentrated here. As a returning garden, you can feel the change of the footsteps and the scenery, so it is also known as one of the top ten manors in the world.
Chengqu Garden is much smaller than the Kanazawa Kenrokuen and Nagoyas Tokugawa Park.
Into the garden, the first thing I noticed first is "Mount Fuji." The almost completely symmetrical conical shape fully reflects the fineness of the Japanese. After crossing the bridge, walk along the lake (the beach), and the exquisite courtyard is a step by step. Probably the relationship of a returning garden, even the same corner is also a side of the mountain.
The only regret is the midsummer September, if you are late, you can see the beauty of the red maple and the green grass. I personally think that the most beautiful scenery in Shuiqian Temple should be seen in the tea room.
Tea room entrance, after entering, the store is on the right. If you don't enjoy refreshments here, you won't have to stop by visiting the tea room owner.
If you buy tea and refreshments, you can sit back and enjoy the view of the courtyard. I chose to sit on the tatami in the house to watch. Matcha in the porcelain bowl and refreshments on the right. With the good scenery in front of me, the hot sun outside is cool.
Shuiqian Temple Chengqu Garden is a garden built in the 1730s by Kumamoto's main Hosokawa Chung Lee for three generations. It has been designated as a national historical site. The beauty of the traditional Japanese courtyard is revealed here.
Hundreds of years ago, the builders built a pool of lakes and built a rocky and sloping rocky mountain that resembles the greens of today's golf courses. Today's blue sky and clear water, Koi recreation, modern buildings around. Surrounded by, it is a quiet world.
It is said that Shuiqian Temple was built in 1632 and covers an area of 70,000 square meters. It was created by Hosokawa Hoso, the lord of the time when Kumamoto was called "Fat", and was originally set up as a private The use of the garden "national government tea house", after careful maintenance and planning expansion of Hosokawa Gang Lee, is the scale of today.
Shuiqian Temple is mainly built in a miniature version that mimics the fifty-three scene style of Tokaido, Japan. It has the landscaping of the typical Taoyuan style garden in Japan, which is from the Japanese Bridge in Tokyo to the Kyoto River in the Edo period. It is built in a beautiful scenery; the mountain view of Mount Fuji, which is the highest peak in Japan, is the most eye-catching.

Osaka Castle Park is free to visit and is very large. Outside the city of Osaka is a moat that is similar to the pattern of an ancient city in China. There are many areas in the city, the most famous of which are the Castle Tower in Osaka City and the Osaka Museum. The vegetation is flourishing, with cherry blossoms and Merlin in the form of a piece of land, in addition to the landmark Osaka Castle Castle, and the Nishio Maru Garden, which is full of cherry blossoms.
Today is a cloudy day, feeling the sun was used up in the first few days. Even so, the full bloom of cherry blossoms is really beautiful, just a corner is full of cherry blossoms, why are you leaving today
Osaka Castle Park, but because the park is very large, even if there are many people Can find a lot of people without the angle, enjoy the flowers!
After a round trip, I entered the Xizhi Pill Garden. This is a scenic spot for collecting tickets. The hundreds of cherry trees in the courtyard are mainly dyed Yoshino. Upon entering the door, it was surrounded by a pale pink. It is still famous for the night cherry blossoms, but unfortunately I can't see it.
There are a lot of people in the courtyard who have picnics and picnics under the cherry trees.
Here you can also photograph the Tianshou Pavilion. Through the layers of cherry blossoms, you can see the green roof of the Tianshou Pavilion, and the sense of smoke in history suddenly comes. The water of the
moat is green, and there are golden cruise ships below. It is a dream scene against the cherry blossoms.
It may be difficult for Westerners to understand the sorrowful East-style aesthetics. The worlds courtyards have won the beauty of the Tang Dynastys legacy. In fact, the ancient timess longing for the Wei and Jin dynasties was also strong. The city landmark of Kyushu, Kyushu, Japan, and the name of the Taoshan-style returning courtyard of the Qianshan-style garden, the name of the garden is immediately from Tao Yuanmings Return to the Garden, The Garden Day is Interested Everyday in the Garden
Kumamoto Shozen-ji Temple was built in a miniature version that mimics the fifty-three scene style of Tokaido, Japan. I think the most correct way to open the Shuiqian Temple is to rent a kimono at the door and carry a small basket on the raft. Take a small step and take a small step and slowly take a picture. The price of the kimono at the door is 2,000 yen, about 126 yuan, including a printed photo.
This is the first time I wear a kimono. I used to be a habitual person. After I put on this, I became a lady. Because, you can't walk without walking. . . . . There are very few people in the
park, so you can take photos with great confidence and don't worry about anyone entering the mirror.
