[2025 Lauterbrunnen Attraction] Travel Guide for Stechelberg (Updated Jul)

The Schilthorn (2,970 meters) is one of the summits in the Bernese Alps of Switzerland that can be reached without hiking up the mountain. It took us 2.5 hours to get to the Schilthorn, where the Piz Gloria revolving restaurant is located, starting from Interlaken train station and involving multiple train, bus, and cable car rides. We first took a train from Interlaken OST to Lauterbrunnen, which took approximately 20-25 minutes. From Lauterbrunnen, we boarded bus 141 to Stechelberg, the starting point for a series of four cable car rides to the summit. We purchased the cable car tickets online in advance to avoid the queues. The ticket cost CHF 42.80 per person with the Swiss Travel Pass (usual price CHF 108). The intermediate stations included Gimmelwald, Mürren, and Birg. The cable car ride offered impressive views of the Lauterbrunnen Valley and surrounding peaks. Stechelberg is part of the Lauterbrunnen valley, the entrance to the upper valley. Then we took a walk beside Parking Stechelberg to enjoy the nature, river and waterfall. There’s a place for you to barbecue too if you wanted to do so. We had a pleasant walk around that area before we take the cable car to Gimmelwald. You also can take the cable car to Murren. I want to travel to Hong Kong to explore a different culture, nature, and food.

(Winter only) • Stargazing: After 10 p.m., enjoy the beauty of the Milky Way flowing with the stars from the valley observation deck. ✨ 🚗 Transportation • From Interlaken: Approximately 25 minutes, passing by the lake where Crash Landing on You was filmed. • From Zurich Airport: 2 hours by car: Direct to Lauterbrunnen. • Train travelers: Take the R62 to Lauterbrunnen station and the waterfall will greet you right away. Also, the Lucerne-Interlaken scenic train has a special window to view the waterfall, making the journey even more spectacular.

Follow the path along the creek and head from Stechelberg to the small town of Lauterbrunnen. A beautiful country like a fairyland, like a paradise, picturesque. On both sides of the path is the ranch of each family, just like in the painting, it is so beautiful! There are a lot of signs in Switzerland. Which road is a bicycle lane. Which road is a pedestrian walkway. It takes a long time to get away from the destination. It is very clear. Just follow the street sign and it will never be lost. .
