In the State Historical Museum in Moscow, 'finding money'
In the 2nd century BC, Emperor Wu of Han issued 'leather money'.
Coincidentally, in the 9th century, Russia also had 'fur money'.
Thanks to my iPhone 15 Pro Max, its built-in translation feature can tell me what I'm seeing in seconds.

Venturing into a Fairy Tale Realm - A Museum that's Great for Exploring and Photography
✨The State Historical Museum of Russia, built in the 19th century, is located on Manezhnaya Square, north of Moscow's Red Square. It is a stunningly beautiful building with a distinctive New Russian architectural style, featuring a bright red facade. The main building is flanked by two symmetrical, towering towers, along with decorative spires, triangular pediments, and arched windows.✨
🎄The State Historical Museum of Russia resembles a gingerbread house, yet it is incredibly grand. The symmetrical neoclassical architectural style, with its exquisitely detailed carvings, has a white roof that looks as if it's covered in snow❄️, resembling melted ice cream🍦. The spires stand tall and straight, and standing beneath this building feels like stepping into a fairy tale world.🎄🎅

At the Metropolitan Gate entrance to Red Square you see a beautiful red brick building with so much to see inside. The signage at the entry as well as in many of the exhibits was in English. Our entry plus an audio players was around $20. After that we pretty well had the exhibit halls to ourselves - each room on the first floor followed the historical development of Russia. They had very nicely displayed objects but even more special was each wall and ceiling beautifully decorated. The second floor was more modern displays - weapons, dress, home furnishing and paintings. There was an area with gold and other jewelry which was the only area we encountered any other visitors. We really enjoyed this site and the break from the masses of people in the Red Square area. #wintergetaway
