The shophouses have been changed into accommodation, restaurants, hardware shops, beauty parlours, and many more. They are very colourful and very pleasing to the eyes too. After being transformed, they looked very aesthetic. Those older shophouses have also undergone a face lift to change its image. A walk down the jalan besar street, I have spotted some street Arts paintings along the way. Shophouses now have changed into hostels, budget hotels, restaurants, temples, and even mini marts. The place was quite lively both in the day as well as the night time. Walking down the jalan besar heritage trail would bring you to the sim lim square shopping complex, which is famous for being a computing mall.
