[2025 Utrecht Attraction] Travel Guide for St Martin's Cathedral (Updated Apr)

The Utrecht Dome Cathedral bell tower is the tallest church tower in the Netherlands, with a height of 112.5 meters. The tower is a Gothic architectural style and is also one of the symbols of the city. The tower is part of Utrecht Cathedral and was completed between 1321 and 1382. The St. Martin's Church next to the bell tower is the main church of Utrecht. There is a garden inside the church for tourists to rest and watch. The church itself also has good architectural and decorative effects The entire city of Utrecht first developed from the center of the square where the bell tower and church are located.

Utrecht has to be my favourite city in all of the Netherlands. It’s just a half-hour train ride south of Amsterdam. It is a small city but it’s an attractive city with a modern, lively vibe. Things to do : 1.Try kayaking at the Utrecht Canals, which is pretty cheap as well (25-35€) 2. Wander Utrecht’s Historic City Centre along the Oudegracht Old canal. 3. St Martin's Cathedral (Domkerk) Utrecht, Netherland. very nice cathedral just in the center of the city Utrecht next to the Dom Tower - unfortunately was close to renovation at the moment of my visit. the cathedral is not very big but still good to visit, free entrance (can donate if want any amout). visited at the beginning of December, and it was pretty cold inside , maybe even colder than outside. #freehotelstay#historicallandmarks #freehotelstay

Utrecht is the fourth largest city in the Netherlands and one of the oldest, with a strong medieval atmosphere. I suggest staying in Utrecht for at least 2-3 days. My main itinerary is as follows: 1. City Center: The most representative attraction here is the Dome Church, which is magnificent and has the tallest church tower in Europe. It is surrounded by beautiful canals, with restaurants and shops on both sides. 2. National Museum Area: There are multiple museums, especially the Railway Museum and the Central Museum, with many cultural relics exhibitions inside, worth a visit. 3. Castle Gardens: Here is the largest park in Utrecht, a great place for strolling and relaxing, and there is also a small maze for people to explore. 4. Canal Cruise: Cruising along the canal is the best way to experience the charm of Utrecht. The 40-minute tour allows you to enjoy the scenery of the water town. 🚄Transportation guide: Take a train from Amsterdam Central Station for 30 minutes to reach Utrecht Central Station, with a one-way ticket costing about 10 euros. Walking and cycling are the main modes of transportation in the city, but taxis and buses are also available. 🏩 Regarding accommodation, the average price for hotels within the Utrecht city center is 100-200 euros per night. Cheaper options include homestays or hostels, which cost around 60-120 euros per night. 🍽 In terms of dining, various authentic Dutch dishes, Italian dishes, and cafes, etc., cost about 20-30 euros per meal. ⚠️ Other notes: The weather in the Netherlands can change greatly, so bring rain gear and warm clothing. Dress appropriately when visiting churches and photography is prohibited. Most museums close before 5:00 pm, so visit early. Pay attention to traffic rules when cycling, and cycling is prohibited in the city center. In short, Utrecht is an ancient and romantic city that is worth spending some time exploring. I believe a 2-3 day itinerary can give you a rough idea of the beauty of this city. Visited the Dom Cathedral in Utrecht and it was spectacular. The Cathedral was built in the 13th century and it’s architecture was marvellous. I have visited many cathedrals but have never seen one so grand in size. It has a rich history and definitely a highlight to visit when you are in Utrecht! The is also the Dom Tower but do book your tickets in advance as we could not get tickets on the day itself as they were sold out:”) You can’t enter the Dom Tower without a guided tour but you can enter the cathedral free of charge! Feel free to make a donation while you are there as well. The Dom Tower overlooks the entire city and I’ll definitely be back for it the next time!
