. Nature and urban development are often separated by impassable boundaries. However, Mecanismo argues that cities and forests are compatible, and that both share common organizing qualities that allow them to complement each other. To do this, the team started from the human perspective, from the 30 panels and their strict geometry, creating a forest through naturalization and geometric adaptation.
- Mecanismo creates a system in front of the Church of Saint-Sever in Rouen Jeanne d'Arc, Rouen, generating an urban forest through which citizens can cross this space. When they visit from the inside, they will feel as if they are entering and passing through part of the forest.
Foret is made from 30 laminated pine panels measuring 2500x1220x30 mm. There are 5 trees of different heights, made up of 8 triangles, each with 4 types. Each tree's components are connected to the mechanized edges of the wooden planks through three types of metal pieces, one at the base, another in the center and a final one at each end, allowing for the connection between the different trees. To create greater visual complexity, the surfaces of some trees incorporate mirrors in different shades, recreating the colours of an autumn forest.
