The secrets of Spiti Valley (India)
I had been planning a trip to Northern India for a long time and many people told me that I should really visit Spiti Valley, so that's what I did!
I took a 12-hour bus ride from Delhi to Manali, also called the gateway to the Himalayas.
It's an awesome place where any backpacker/traveller can get whatever he likes; shopping, Asian and Western food etc. After spending two days here it was time to continue to Kaza, the capital city of the Spiti Valley. I went to the local bus station (go early in the morning to get front seats!) to get my tickets.
It was a long, uncomfortable road trip, over the Kunzum Pass, but every bit of it was worth it!
I saw landscapes I had never seen before, breathtaking!
And the people, who are mostly Buddhists in this region, are so special and friendly. I made a a lot of local friends and this is a memory which will always stay in my heart.
I made side trips in the area around Kaza, including to the Highest Post Office in the world, from where you can send postcards back to your family at home. Fun!
Spiti Valley is simply awesome and you should see it with your own eyes!
