🇮🇹An old mine with a view of the Sardinian sea
Laveria Lamarmora is a historic mining structure located near the Miniera di Nebida mine in the southwest of the Italian island of Sardinia. Built in the late 19th century, it was part of the active mining operations in Sardinia, mainly used to mine and process lead and zinc ores.
The name 'Laveria' refers to the plant where the ore was washed with water to separate the useful minerals, and Laveria Lamarmora played an important role in processing the ore mined at the Nebida mine and transporting it to the refineries along the coast.
The structure is notable for its size and scenic beauty, perched on a steep cliff overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Today, it is a popular tourist attraction due to its historical significance and the outstanding coastal scenery. Although it is now mostly in ruins, it is preserved as part of the UNESCO-recognized Sardinian Mining Park, and the area is also famous for its hiking trails and cultural heritage.
