[2025 Kundasang Attraction] Travel Guide for Sosodikon Hill Kundasang (Updated Apr)

Join a day tour to Kundasang in Sabah. Although we didn't challenge the summit, this leisurely trip allowed me to experience the richness and natural charm of the surrounding attractions. Early in the morning, we departed from the city, and the scenic drive was picturesque. The winding mountain roads gradually took us away from the hustle and bustle of the city, replaced by lush tropical rainforests and magnificent mountain views. As the car approached Kinabalu National Park, the towering peaks suddenly came into view, making us marvel at the grandeur of nature. The first stop of the itinerary was the Kundasang Botanical Garden. Here, I saw many rare plants, including the carnivorous pitcher plants unique to Sabah, and beautiful orchids. The guide's explanation was very interesting, telling us that Kundasang is one of the most biodiverse areas in the world. The survival strategies and environmental adaptability of these plants left me in awe. Next, we arrived at Poring Hot Springs. The hot springs here are said to have soothing effects on the body and mind. I took off my shoes and dipped my feet into the warm spring water, instantly feeling all my fatigue wash away. There was also a canopy walk, which was my favorite experience. Standing on the high suspension bridge overlooking the entire forest, I felt both nervous and excited. The gentle breeze through the treetops brought an indescribable sense of peace. Lunch was at a local restaurant, where simple Malay cuisine made us feel warm and satisfied. Afterward, we visited the Desa Cattle Dairy Farm, known as 'Little New Zealand.' The cows grazing on the meadows and the distant view of Kundasang made the photos look like postcards. Tasting the local fresh milk and cheese ice cream was the perfect ending to this trip. Although this day trip was relaxing, I gained a deeper understanding of the nature and culture around Kundasang. Next time I visit Sabah, I hope to have the opportunity to challenge the summit and personally experience the thrill of looking down on the world from above.

Kinabalu Park - for those who want to visit the Kinabalu Geopark Gallery, it opens at 9 am 6. Kundasang Market - selling all kinds of fresh fruits, vegetables, flowers, and plants 7. Filipino Market 8. The Art Attic & 9. Salt and Paper - niche literary products (I bought beautiful magnets and stickers)

#familytrips2024 #awesomepic #visitsabah Trail was rocky but not slippery, it is definitely suitable for anyone to climb up the hill and enjoy this mezmerizing view of Kinabalu in the background. Entrance fee was RM 10 but they do not really have specific/ designated parking area for this park so take note on which time, date or day that are more busy (such holiday) for you to avoid the crowd. You may park alongside the road and there was also, one small cleared area where I saw several cars being parked (not sure if that was an official parking area). Also, it is a very small road driving up here, do pay extra careful on the road.

Worth the hike for sure. Trekking trail was not difficult, just a short one but would recommend proper shoes. Tips: An early morning hike are preferable as the mount will be more clearer around 7.30am-9.00am. Extra information: 1. Fee: RM5/person 2. The road quite extreme and steeped. Still in Kundasang, Sabah 😁 Now we go to Sosodikon Hill, one of the tourist attraction in Sabah. Wonderful 360 degree view of Kundasang with Mount Kinabalu. Trekking up the hill was not difficult but would recommend proper shoes. This is not really a challenging trek so even if you are fat, you still canclimb. The view is very pleasure up there, especially when you climb in the morning (6am) because you still can see the Mount Kinabalu very clearly. For those driving to the foothill of Sosodikon, parking is available but if you are there at a peak time then parking may be a bit tricky. The access road to Sosodikon is also a bit of a bumpy ride.
