#Visit the ancient city of Songpan, a city on the border of China and Tibet, which in the past was a city used for trading goods between the Han people and Tibetans, located in Jin'an Municipality, about 322 kilometers from Chengdu City, and is considered the "western gate of Sichuan Province". In front of the entrance of the ancient city, there are statues of Princess Wenchen and King Songsen Gampo of Tibet standing tall. This trip, we intended to visit Jiuzhaigou, which on the way we had to pass through this ancient city, so we stopped to visit and walk around the ancient city. Inside the city, there are many local souvenir shops. On the day we went, there weren't many people and the weather was good, so we could walk around leisurely. The ancient Chinese architecture in the city is very beautiful. For anyone who comes to Jiuzhaigou by car, I recommend stopping here. There are many foods to try around the city. 😋 The view along the way before arriving at this ancient city is also very beautiful. Chengdu ➡️ Songpan: 9:39–11:18 Songpan ➡️ Chengdu: 19:29–21:09 Book tickets in advance! Book tickets in advance! We booked late and had to buy an extra stop (if you are brave, you can wait until the last day to book tickets! We saw 11 tickets available on the day) After leaving the station, you can take a small bus, which will take you to the scenic spots for CNY 40 per person, including two scenic spots. The driver will wait for us at the scenic spot, and you can leave your bag on the bus 🚌, which is very convenient. Next, the key points!! Make sure you have enough time for the scenic spots, especially Erdaohai! Leave more time! There is snow ❄️ and sun 🌞, so you will definitely get good photos. We only had two hours, which was not enough. We only climbed to Erdaohai, which was so beautiful that we cried. The locals said it was more beautiful up there, but we didn't have time to go up 😿 We left too much time for Zhaga Waterfall, which actually only takes 1 hour at most. The driver took us up there, so it was not far to walk to the waterfall, and the scenery and photos 📷 were not as good as Erdaohai, so you can leave less time. Finally, the driver will take you back to the ancient city, where you can have a meal and buy some local specialties to take home. The three of us mainly came here to eat. We had Gansu noodles at a popular restaurant, and we arrived just in time when there were not many people. Transportation 🚄: 1. C6376, departs from Chengdu East at 10:30 AM, arriving at Zhenjiangguan Station 🚉. After arriving, there is a free bus 🚌 to Songpan Ancient Town at the station exit, taking about 1-1.5 hours to reach Songpan Ancient Town. 2. Songpan Ancient Town: A small highland town at an altitude of about 2800 meters 🏘️, with a Guanyin Temple said to be around 3000 meters above sea level (I didn't go due to fear of altitude sickness) 🤷‍♀️. Songpan is not big, it takes about 2-3 hours to stroll around, and there is a street that specializes in selling caterpillar fungus (quality unknown, I can't understand) 🤦‍♀️. Yak meat skewers for one yuan each are everywhere, highly recommended! The cost of living is not high either! It's a good stopover to visit before heading to Jiuzhaigou. 3. There are buses from Songpan to Jiuzhaigou, with the last one departing at 18:30, which is the one I took (💰42), taking about 2-2.5 hours to Jiuzhaigou. The driver is very nice and will stop near the hotel location for parking 🅿️. 4. Return trip: Book the bus from Jiuzhaigou to Zhenjiangguan on Ctrip 🍊 for 💰28, with corresponding departure times that connect with the high-speed train schedule. (⚠️It's advised to take the bus early! I took the 1:30 PM bus, and the high-speed train was at 17:40, but there was a two-hour traffic jam due to road construction! Dining 🥢: Norilang Restaurant (the only restaurant inside Jiuzhaigou), I ordered the yak beef noodles 💰30, the meat was a bit scarce 😥. You can also bring your own food, but it's hard to find hot water for instant noodles. (❗️Instant noodles in the scenic area cost 15 yuan each, and that's the only way to get hot water) Attractions ⭐️: The Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area is shaped like a 'Y', and you queue up to take a shuttle bus into the area (as expected of a 5A scenic spot, the shuttle bus dispatch is very efficient, it only took 12 minutes from queuing to boarding!). The first shuttle bus randomly assigns routes, and I was assigned to the right side. You don't need to worry about not knowing how to visit the major attractions in the scenic area because there are guides on the shuttle buses who will introduce each spot. Just follow the crowd and get off the bus. After finishing the right side, you'll return to Norilang and then transfer to the left side shuttle bus for sightseeing.
