This winter vacation, I took my child to Hainan to escape the cold. Instead of going to the popular Sanya, we went to the relatively unpopular Haikou and Wanning. On the first day, we took a direct flight from Shanghai Hongqiao to Haikou Meilan Airport, planning to spend two days in Haikou. On the second day, we went to have the local specialty morning tea. There was a famous traditional Laobacha (a type of tea) shop not far from the hotel, so we walked there. The morning tea was very rich, and we tasted many dim sum that we had never tried before. After checking out in the afternoon, we checked in to the second hotel of this trip, Sofitel Haikou. The hotel lobby was very grand, and I recommend staying in a sea view room, as the view is great. You can take a taxi to Holiday Beach and Qilou Old Street from the hotel. On the third day, we bought high-speed rail tickets in advance and departed from Haikou East Station to Wanning. We got off at Shenzhou Station and took a taxi directly to The Westin Shimei Bay Resort. We booked a first-line sea view room for two nights. Although the price doubled during the peak season, it was still worth it. The scenery was so beautiful. The hotel has a private beach and offers a variety of family activities for children. You can enjoy a quiet and leisurely holiday without leaving the hotel. For dining, I recommend Taiqiong Zaopo Vinegar Sour Soup Hot Pot, which is not far from the hotel. It is very local and delicious. On the fourth day, we took a taxi to Riyue Bay, a famous attraction in Wanning. It is worthy of being a surfing mecca, as the waves there are really big, which is very suitable for surfing enthusiasts to challenge. The nearby popular seaside church is also worth a visit. On the fifth day, we went to Shenzhou Peninsula. After checking out at noon, we went directly to the last hotel of this trip, Sheraton. This hotel should be quite old, but the facilities are still good. It is quite close to the popular lighthouse, so you can go and have a look if you have time. On the sixth day, we bought high-speed rail tickets for the afternoon. We also took the time to have the famous Dongshan Goat Hot Pot for lunch. After a week of holiday and mostly eating buffet meals we have been craving fresh quality cuisine. Element Fresh brought us the perfect combination between healthy, fresh and delicious. We ordered fresh spring rolls, Thai beef salad , roasted chicken with fresh vegetables and smoothies. All the dishes were made with quality ingredients.
