Cycling at Sirikit Dam
Sirikit Dam is the largest earth dam in Thailand. It was built to block the Nan River at Khao Phasom, Tha Pla District, Uttaradit Province, to store water, prevent flooding, and for irrigation purposes. Construction began in 1968 and was completed in 1972, creating a large freshwater reservoir extending to Pak Nai, Na Muen District, Nan Province. Later, a power plant was constructed and completed in 1974, officially starting electricity production on March 4, 1977. Currently, bicycles are available for rent to ride along the dam and around the reservoir.
