Siniawan Night Market Delight
Siniawan Night Market is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Sarawak, Malaysia, offering a mesmerizing blend of authentic local culture, delectable street food, and an unforgettable sense of community. As a frequent traveler, I stumbled upon this charming market, and it turned out to be an experience I'll cherish forever.
The moment you step into Siniawan, you're transported to a bygone era. The market's rustic ambiance is set aglow by traditional Chinese lanterns, casting a warm and inviting atmosphere. The wooden shophouses lining the narrow streets are adorned with vibrant murals depicting the town's rich history, creating a picturesque backdrop for your evening adventure.
What truly makes Siniawan Night Market shine is its culinary delights. The array of food stalls is nothing short of impressive, offering a tantalizing showcase of Sarawakian cuisine. I couldn't resist trying the local specialty, Sarawak Laksa. The rich, aromatic broth infused with spices and topped with fresh prawns and shredded chicken was an explosion of flavors. As I savored each spoonful, I couldn't help but notice the dedication and passion that went into creating this dish.
Aside from Sarawak Laksa, there's a plethora of options to satisfy any palate. From fragrant satay skewers to crispy popiah rolls and tender grilled fish, Siniawan Night Market is a food lover's paradise. The prices are incredibly wallet-friendly, allowing you to sample a wide variety without breaking the bank.
What sets this night market apart is its sense of community. Locals and tourists alike gather here, creating an atmosphere of camaraderie and togetherness. The live traditional music performances, showcasing the indigenous culture of Sarawak, add to the communal spirit of the market. It's a place where strangers become friends over shared meals and shared stories.
Siniawan Night Market offers a glimpse into the heart and soul of Sarawak, capturing the essence of its culture, cuisine, and sense of community. Whether you're a seasoned traveler or a first-time visitor, this enchanting market is a must-visit destination. It's a place where history meets modernity, and where the warmth of the people matches the flavors of the food. Don't miss the chance to immerse yourself in the magic of Siniawan Night Market – an experience that will leave you craving more, long after the lanterns dim and the night comes to an end.

The Bikalan @ Siniawan Night Market
Welcome to The Bikalan! Located in the middle of the Siniawan Night Market, The Bikalan is a bar/restaurant that serves a variety of Chinese + Dayak + Western food! Definitely a unique combination! With the FIFA World Cup ongoing, you’ll definitely be able to catch the live matches on the big screen whilst enjoying a bite to eat. I ordered the pork burger with a patty that was juicy and wonderfully flavored! Do check the place out if you’re in the area!

Siniawan Night Market
About a 20 minute drive from Batu Kawa, the Siniawan Night Market showcases a unique blend of culture and food. Along the beautifully lit streets, you will find Chinese lanterns adorned around every corner of the area and the occasional food stall blasting Chinese New Year songs despite it only being December 😂 Enjoy various Dayak and Chinese cuisines from the different stalls located along this bazaar/market. My favourite was the BBQ pork which paired nicely with the blended chili!

Nice place to hang out during Friday+weekends nights. Some food to choose from, those kolomee, fried noodles, oyster pancakes, rojak, Taiwan sausage, grilled seafood, local biscuits and pastries, etc. It's literally a vintage photographer's heaven. It is old town with old chinese vibes. Good food and warm atmosphere.
Lots of parking lots available. Crowd started to form after 6pm. Some shops are nicely decorated.

Siniawan Country Music Fest - Siniawan, Bau
Driving into Siniawan during the day, one might think they’ve stumbled across a ghost town. Tucked along the banks of the Sarawak River, the narrow main street is devoid of traffic, while its two rows of wooden shophouses are mostly shuttered, save for a general store or two.
Weekend evenings, however, are a different story. In recent years, the Siniawan night market, which runs from Fridays to Sundays, has become one of the top attractions for tourists in Sarawak’s state capital, Kuching, a 30-minute drive away.
However, every year, everyone will be looking forward to an event which is the Country Music Fest.
The main event scheduled on the featured Country music with bands coming from West Malaysia as well as local bands in Sarawak, attracted huge crowd. Other series of events such as karaoke competitions for English, Malay, Dayak and Chinese songs over three (3) consecutive nights also attracted many visitors. The following Friday night featured a local Rock band with audience participation and Saturday showcased indigenous musicians from local cultures, including guests from Taiwan. All on a new stage in the center of Siniawan Bazaar.
The Country Western Night event was a huge hit where thousands of visitors/participants came voluntarily in their cowboy outfit to enjoy the harmonious event. The event was an unparalleled success and the Siniawan Festival is now becoming known as one of the premier events in Sarawak and all Malaysia. Over the one (1) week of festivities, upwards of thirty thousand (30,000) people danced their way up and down Siniawan High Street.

Local Delicacies and Ferns that’s only found in Sarawak
#favouriteitinerary Had the chance to visit the Siniawan night market that features hundreds food stalls that sell various local delicacies, cuisines and drinks. The traditional handmade kuih-muih are very popular among the locals. I love their Angku-kuih which is made of red bean and the baked pulut (rice in bamboo). Also we have the signature Malay Satay that goes well with its rice and special gravy. Not only that, the special dish that is only found in Sarawak is the midin (a type of fern which are editable vegetable).

Siniawan - Most beautiful Night Market Street in Bau, Kuching
#favouriteitinerary if you travel to Kuching, Siniawan Old Town featuring night market with lots of street food is a must visit. The old town comes alive every Friday, Saturday and Sunday where lots local foods and titbits are waiting to fill your tummy. The Chinese New Year decoration is amazing in the month of Feb where you can see the red tanglungs and colourful umbrella illuminating the whole street and the traditional old buildings. Not only that, the red dragon (made of tanglungs) stretch long across 100metre is the main character in the town. Totally recommended.

Heritage Vibes and Bonding Moments: Our Siniawan Sibling Trip
My siblings and I recently had an incredible day exploring the charming Siniawan Heritage Town in Kuching. The town’s rustic vibe, with its preserved old-world architecture and colorful street markets, made us feel like we had stepped back in time. We enjoyed walking through narrow streets lined with heritage buildings, soaking in the laid-back atmosphere.
The food stalls were a highlight, offering an array of local delicacies. Each of us picked something different, and we shared it all — from kolo mee to refreshing coconut drinks. The ambiance was further enhanced by the beautiful string lights hanging overhead, adding a magical touch, especially as the day turned into evening.
We also appreciated the warmth of the locals, who were more than happy to share the history and stories of the town. It’s not often we get to experience a place that feels both relaxing and culturally rich, but Siniawan Heritage Town delivered on both fronts.
This trip gave us a unique opportunity to bond over shared experiences and appreciate Kuching’s cultural heritage. I highly recommend Siniawan as a must-visit, whether you’re traveling with family, friends, or even solo. It’s a perfect spot for some meaningful quality time in a picturesque, historical setting!#family #kuching #awesomepic #sister #Siniawanheritagetown

Siniawan is located in Bau, Kuching, about 20km from the center of Kuching. It takes about 30 minutes to take a taxi from the center of Kuching, about RM20-RM30. As the distance is relatively remote, it is recommended that you drive there. There are quaint wooden houses in the Xinyaowan Night Market. Friends who like to take photos and check in, you can definitely take beautiful photos here~ There are all kinds of food here, seafood, fried noodles, bamboo chicken, potato rolls, and other Sarawak delicacies #siniawan #沙拉越 #古晋

Kuching's Sin Yao Wan Night Market is only open from Friday to Sunday. It is just a quiet town in the morning. Apart from these three days, the town is also bustling during the Lantern Festival.
