Macau's Single Origin Cafe: A Pilgrimage Spot for Coffee Enthusiasts
Single Origin Cafe, located on Holland Garden Second Street in Macau, is one of the city's most iconic specialty coffee shops. It is also the first store of the local coffee brand Blooom. In 2019, it was ranked 17th on the Asia's 50 Best Coffee Shops list.
This cafe is housed in a two-story building. Though compact in size, it enjoys immense popularity. The first floor features a spacious bar area but limited seating. The entrance boasts a quirky "automatic door" setup, showcasing the owner's creativity.
The cafe is equipped with high-end coffee machines and grinders, including the single-head La Marzocco GS3 and EP version shot brewer, as well as grinders like Mythos One Black Eagle, The Monoliths, and Versalab M3—many of which are rare to find in China. The shop also displays Blooom coffee's single-origin beans, SOE, and blends.
The cafe primarily offers single-origin coffee beans from Brazil and Guatemala, allowing customers to enjoy excellent pour-over and espresso coffee. During afternoon tea hours, creative desserts are available, and coffee beans can be purchased to take home if desired. The espresso coffee has a slightly acidic taste, with beautiful latte art and creamy milk foam. Seasonal desserts like espresso strawberry mochi and matcha chiffon cake are worth trying.
Additionally, the cafe's Wi-Fi password is "bossisnothere," adding a touch of humor. The staff are friendly and patient, always ready to answer customers' coffee-related questions. If you're a coffee lover, this is a spot you shouldn't miss.
