In the Huangpu area of Shanghai, you’ll find a complex called Sinan Mansions which contains a number of different types of businesses.
The complex has been remodelled and has a European feel to it containing bars, restaurants, shopping outlets and artistic related outlets such as book stores and museums. It is free to enter and would be a nice place to spend the day taking some pictures or having a nice break #shanghai #mytripvlog #urbanexplorer

The heart of the French concession: Sinan Lu
#urbanexplorer #shanghai #china
If you’re looking for historic architecture in Shanghai, the best place to visit is Sinan road in the heart of the French concession. We visited this area on a sunny winter day and it was perfect for a light afternoon stroll with our dogs. The red brick contrasts beautiful against the grey London Plain trees and the blue sky. Brilliant for photos. There are also man cute cafes to stop in for a warm drink along the way.

Night stroll in Sinan Road
Sinan Mansions are a remodeled houses complex dating from the French concession (1920s) in Shanghai. Sinan Mansions are considered part of city’s cultural heritage, an outdoor museum with gardens, elegant European style old architecture, pedestrian lines and trees.
Sinan Mansions are a beautiful complex, most houses were remodeled or modified to bring life to luxurious shops, restaurants and bars. You can get amazing cocktails or even your wedding dress in this area. Restaurants goes from Japanese food, tapas and Italian food, to coffee shops. Several different pubs with very interesting (odd) decoration (pic 7).
During the day or night, Sinan Mansions are a beautiful place to visit. Architecture will be better appreciated during the day. Nevertheless, the romantic ambience granted in the veil of the night is hard to ignore. This is a great place to have a date, or come with your family.

Mix of flavors
It is quite an accidental discovery of this coffee shop around Sinan mansions that we got attracted by the flowers and little bonsai plants🌾, where we get to see miniature version of all huge trees and plants.
Going inside the place, we found they have a coffee shop there; and without any second thought we grabbed one that come with this cute little cup 🍵 a perfectly whipped cream of milk latte.
It is quite funny about these newly emerging cafes, that it is perplexing whether we are paying for the coffee or for the ambience😅. It was quite a soothing time in there. Also a good way to stroll around the city to find your best. #coffeeshop #urbanexplorer

In the last few nights in Shanghai, I chose the old house in the garden near the Sinan Mansion
the old house in the alley. It has a taste, and the small space is built into a duplex Shanghai style. The boss named the hotel. Sea Flower does have a sense of charm in the small garden outside the window. It is very pleasant
Location: Close to Sun Yat-sens former residence of Yuan Shikai, and you can walk to Xintiandi and Huaihai Middle Road. Hh/
Recommendation: Shanghai's rare detached loft old house, LOFT duplex structure, own small landscape garden

The end of summer at Sinan Mansions.
The end of summer gently rolls up a season of heat and laughter. The sun is no longer so ostentatious, but it is still as warm as ever, giving the world a soft golden edge. The breeze is blowing, bringing a bit of coolness, quietly telling us that the prelude to autumn is about to sound. The trees begin to change their clothes, and occasionally a few leaves that herald the change fall, reminding us to cherish every moment at the end of summer.
In the aftertaste of summer, why not slow down, find a shade, or stroll on the beach in the evening, let your feet feel the temperature of the fine sand, and listen to the waves tell the story of summer. Chilled watermelon, sweet ice cream, and those unfinished summer wish lists are the best farewell ceremonies for summer.
Let us capture those shining memories at the end of summer and carefully collect them. Every sunset becomes more brilliant, as if it is using its last passion to tell us: every end is a preview of a new beginning. Although summer is gone, the love and yearning for life in my heart is even more intense because of the precipitation of this season.
The end of summer is about harvest, about gratitude, and about expectation. At the junction of this season, let us welcome every beautiful autumn that is about to come with the warmth of summer.

Sinan Mansions, this unique district that blends history and modernity, always brings unexpected surprises. Sunlight filters through the gaps of the French plane trees, casting a warm and romantic atmosphere on the cobblestone streets. The shops here vary in style, from boutique fashion to unique handicrafts, each item revealing the designer's dedication.

Magic City Exhibition| A non-linear compilation of a culture is possible
|A non-linear compilation of a culture is possible. The 14th Shanghai Biennale is being held at the Shanghai Museum of Contemporary Art. As one of the city projects of this event, the theme exhibition 'Pichen Spectrum: A Non-linear Compilation of a Culture' recently opened at the Sinan Time Zone Gallery.
❤Reason for recommendation:
The theme of this Shanghai Biennale is 'Cosmic Film'. A total of 79 artists/groups from 41 countries on six continents are participating, including 17 artists/groups from China. The original purpose of the Shanghai Biennale was to provide a platform for Chinese artists to showcase the spiritual and cultural values of avant-garde art in China, and this Biennale places more emphasis on the significance of international cultural exchange.
🌟Highlights:
Inside the Sinan Time Zone Gallery, more than a dozen exhibits are eye-catching, such as English textbooks published in Shanghai, which reflect the city's evolution process with real objects. 'Yangjingbang English' is a hybrid language of this period.
As part of the 14th Shanghai Biennale 'Cosmic Film', 'Pichen Spectrum' borrows the concept of 'non-linear editing' technology in the film industry, focusing on the multiple choices and challenges faced by Chinese artists in the process of cultural input, editing and output.
The coexistence, collision and fusion of cultures presented in the exhibition together form a complex 'cultural universe' narrative. In this chaotic and diverse space, the interpretation, misreading and absorption of different cultures often lead to the generation of each individual's unique 'Pichen language'. If compared to those science fiction films with a grand cosmic view, the communication between multiple races and civilizations is nothing more than a replay of human's search for 'self' and 'connection'.
🕙Exhibition time: The exhibition will continue until February 18, 2024
💰Average consumption: Free to the public.

The myth in Eye Candy
The person in charge of Eye Candy first encountered it when he was doing activities in Sinan Mansion. He was just starting a business at that time. Now, Eye Candy has matured a lot compared to that time and operates more smoothly.
The exhibition this time is very rich, not photogenic, but it looks good in reality.

Shanghai on the first day of the Lunar New Year
On the first day of the Lunar New Year, Shanghai is 12°
Shanghai, after several days of low temperature, welcomed the sunshine on the first day of the Lunar New Year. The enthusiasm of the New Year made the sky clear.
Walking on Huaihai Middle Road, accompanied by this ray of sunshine, adds a touch of color to the entire festival.
Along the way, you can see festive signs, and the heat wave of the festival continues;
In the park, uncles and aunts who dance with light steps to the music;
In the shopping malls, P, D, G... and other major brands are still eye-catching;
The sudden roar of a motor vehicle, without looking back, you know it's a Ferrari out for a ride;
Turn right into Maoming South Road, at one end of the road is waffles from Brussels, at the other end is Tsinghua Middle School.
For friends who like to have a drink, Sinan Mansion is a good place, not only coffee: Starbucks, Costa, but also Maotai Culture Experience Hall, opposite is Maotai ice cream, very curious what it tastes like? What does it feel like?
Unfortunately, it's the first day of the Lunar New Year, so I only took a few photos at the door. Friends who have eaten can share their feelings at the time.
In addition to drinks, there are also foods, whether it's Chinese or Western food, everything is available, so you don't have to worry about being hungry.
Finally, the lady who is making a phone call, the person she is meeting should be arriving soon!
Continue to explore, please look forward to it!

An adult's way of healing might be a citywalk
If you can't go far, why not take a citywalk. The wind under the parasol tree brings the long-lost coolness of summer. From the lush green plants to the excellent historical buildings, all are healing elements in this citywalk.
1️⃣Net Green Building
The building covered with ivy looks like a green castle in the anime. Located at the intersection of Yongjia Road and Taiyuan Road, you can take a full view of the building from the opposite corner of the street!
2️⃣Romeo's Balcony
'Then window, let day in, and let life out.'
This Spanish-style balcony is very much like the balcony Romeo climbed up, so it is called 'Romeo's Balcony', which sounds very romantic.
3️⃣Rosa Gallica
A flower shop on Wukang Road, a glass room garden, there will be fragrance testing activities from time to time. Flowers and perfumes have a rock-solid attraction for girls.
4️⃣6️⃣8️⃣9️⃣Sinan Mansion
The Sinan Bookstore in picture 4 is a bookstore transformed from the 25th building of Sinan Mansion. The exterior of the old western-style house and the modern interior design collide to create a brilliant spark.
Pictures 8 and 9 of Sinan Mansion's commercial district, with small and elegant restaurants of different cuisines, is a good place to go for a meal on weekends.
5️⃣Wukang Building
A soul building that citywalk can't lack, like a battleship on land, it is also a popular check-in place in recent years.
7️⃣Antique Garden
An antique shop / coffee shop on Sinan Road, very much like the corner shop where magicians appear in the movie.

Step into the famous old buildings and revisit the history of Shanghai
👍Top Recommendation 1: Sinan Mansion | The favorite of socialites
🌟Highlight: Before understanding Sinan Mansion, we can first get to know Sinan Road. This road, located within the French Concession of Shanghai, was built in 1912 and had no name until two years later. In memory of the famous French musician Massener who died in Paris in 1912, the Public Concession Board named it Massener Road. In 1920, villas and western-style houses sprang up on both sides of Massener Road, which is today's Sinan Mansion.
📝Tips: The old western-style house has been transformed into a new bookstore. There are many western-style houses near Sinan Mansion. Among them, No. 517, Middle Fuxing Road, was once the residence of the patriotic poet Mr. Liu Yazi. In 2018, this three-story old western-style house with a loft was transformed into a bookstore and officially opened on World Book Day of the same year, named 'Sinan Bookstore'. After visiting Sinan Mansion, if you have enough time, you can go to this bookstore, take a break and explore this new cultural landmark in the French Concession.
📍Address: No. 23, Middle Fuxing Road, Huangpu District
——
👍Top Recommendation 2: Blackstone Apartments | Luxury apartments a century ago
❤Recommended reason: If you want to name an apartment in Shanghai that can be on par with Wukang Building, it can only be Blackstone. In 1924, American missionary James Harry Blackstone decided to build the most high-end luxury apartment in China in Shanghai, and later there was the Blackstone Apartment located at the physical center of the French Concession.
📍Address: No. 1331, Middle Fuxing Road, Xuhui District
——
👍Top Recommendation 3: Moller Villa | Fairy tale castle in the dream
At the end of South Shaanxi Road, where there are many high-rise buildings, there is a castle that looks like a fairy tale. It is the Moller Villa with a strong Nordic style. This dreamy villa indeed originated from a dream. In 1926, a little British girl had a dream about Andersen's fairy tale castle in Shanghai. The girl's father, British businessman Eric Moller, decided to turn his daughter's dream into reality and built this castle with both Nordic roofs and Chinese glazed tiles in 1936. Unfortunately, shortly after the villa was completed, the Japanese entered the concession, and the Moller family was driven to the concentration camp, and this place became the Japanese army's club.
📍Address: No. 30, South Shaanxi Road, Jing'an District
——
👍Top Recommendation 4: Shanghai Arts & Crafts Museum | French Romantic Little White House
🌟Highlight: This old building built in 1905 has a history of a hundred years. When it was first built, it was the residence of the director of the French Concession Public Concession Board. The three-story symmetrical garden villa has a strong French post-Renaissance style. The two floors above ground, one floor is a semi-basement. Walking up the viewing platform from the stairs on both sides, you can overlook the large lawn and garden in front of the villa, which is known as the 'Little White House of Magic City'. The interior decoration of the building is also very exquisite. The spiral staircase connecting the three floors, the pink relief on the dome, and the arched porch on the second floor are all finishing touches in the details.
📍Address: No. 79, Fenyang Road, Xuhui District
🕙Business hours: 9:00-11:00, 13:00-16:00
🎫Average consumption: 8 yuan
——
👍Top Recommendation 5: 1933 Old Millfun
🌟Highlight: Compared with the previous few western-style buildings in the French Concession, this old building located in the old alley of the British Concession has a slightly different style. This was once the Shanghai Municipal Council Slaughterhouse. It covers an area of more than 30,000 square meters and has five floors. It was designed and built by the famous British architect Balfus. It was once the largest and most modern slaughterhouse in East Asia. The building combines Chinese and Western elements. The design of the outer square and inner circle has the concept of Eastern Feng Shui, and the overall architecture is in the style of ancient Rome. Numerous umbrella columns and cross bridges form pedestrian stairs and 'cattle roads' for livestock to walk. Now this grand and exquisite slaughterhouse has long been transformed into a creative park, and many characteristic shops and restaurants are permanently stationed here. Because the building itself is made of concrete, the dark gray walls are solid and textured. This is also the favorite venue for various cultural activities such as fashion shows and drama performances. There are also film and television variety shows such as 'Tiny Times' and 'Running Man' shooting here.
📍Address: No. 611, Liyang Road, Hongkou District
——
📝Tips: Speaking of old western-style houses, Shanghai indeed has countless famous buildings worth slowly appreciating. In addition to the five classic buildings mentioned above, Clement Apartments on Middle Fuxing Road, Verdun Garden on South Shaanxi Road, and Pillow Flow Apartments on Huashan Road are all worth exploring in depth.

Checked in at Sinan Mansions
After the rain cleared up at noon, I specifically came to visit Sinan Mansions. This is a group of garden-style foreign-style buildings, most of which have now been converted for commercial use. Across the street is Fuxing Park. I love the shade under the tall French plane trees on both sides of Fuxing Middle Road

If you want to understand the culture of old western-style houses in Shanghai, you might as well take a tour of Sinan Mansions
These architectural complexes are really distinctive, and now they have been transformed into shops, restaurants, and hotels, which are very worth visiting.

Shanghai | This century-old western-style house, you must not miss!
If you only know to go to the Bund when you come to Shanghai, then you are at a big loss.
How can you not city walk when you come to Shanghai, slow down and feel the charm of this city?
The Sinan Mansion located on Sinan Road is one of the places where I go to Shanghai city walk check-in! (If you don't want to walk, you can also take the subway to Huaihai Middle Road Station, exit 1)
As soon as I arrived there, I was deeply attracted by this old western-style house with a hundred years of history. The old western-style house wrapped in flowers is eye-catching, and the flower wall waterfall shows the unique romance here!
It is said that celebrities such as Zhou Enlai and Mei Lanfang have lived here before, and many current stars also rent here. This is also one of the filming locations of the movie 'Tiny Times', many clips have the figure of this place (Gu Li's birthday party was filmed here)!
In addition, the 'Antique Garden' is also a place worth checking in! On a leisurely afternoon, come to the 'Antique Garden', order a cup of your favorite coffee☕️ and dessert🍰, look at the beautiful scenery outside, sit and enjoy this moment of exclusive tranquility and comfort! (Many film and television stars have been here, Wang Junkai, Yang Yang and other stars have been here!)
Opposite Sinan Mansion is Fuxing Park, where you feel like you are in Europe, a good place for shooting!
In summary, if you want to have a French literary and romantic comfortable trip, 'Sinan Mansion' you must not miss!
