The Silver Palace, also known as the Silver Pavilion Temple, is located in the Royal Palace of Phnom Penh. It is a holy place for the kings of the past dynasties to worship Buddha. It is named after the floor of the hall is inlaid with more than 5,000 silver bricks, with a total of 5 tons of silver pieces, which is magnificent. The Silver Temple is a wooden structure and was expanded by King Sihanouk in 1962. There are many precious cultural relics in the hall, showing the splendor and richness of Khmer culture. There are hundreds of gold and silver treasures in the temple. There is a Buddha statue made of 18K gold in the center of the temple, weighing 90 kilograms. The Buddha statue is inlaid with nearly 10,000 diamonds. It was built in memory of King Sisowath, which is quite gorgeous. In addition, there are also collections of jade Buddha carved from a whole piece of jadeite, gold inlaid murals more than 40 centimeters high, and gifts from foreign heads of state on display. Even during the turbulent period of the Khmer Rouge rule, when 60% of the collections in the Silver Temple were stolen or destroyed, what remains is still spectacular. The four walls outside the Silver Palace are painted with frescoes based on the story of Ramayana. They were painted around 1900 and are worth visiting. The objects placed around the outer walls fully reflect the exquisite Khmer art, including the exquisite masks used to perform classical dances and dozens of pure gold Buddha statues, which are exquisite and ingenious.
