Sigiriya Lion Rock Sri Lanka 🇱🇰
According to the ancient Sri Lankan chronicle the Cūḷavaṃsa, this area was a large forest, then after storms and landslides it became a hill and was selected by King Kashyapa (AD 477–495) for his new capital. He built his palace on top of this rock and decorated its sides with colourful frescoes. On a small plateau about halfway up the side of this rock he built a gateway in the form of an enormous lion. The name of this place is derived from this structure; Sīnhāgiri, the Lion Rock (an etymology similar to Sinhapura, the Sanskrit name of Singapore, the Lion City).
The capital and the royal palace were abandoned after the king's death. It was used as a Buddhist monastery until the 14th century.[3] Sigiriya today is a UNESCO listed World Heritage Site. It is one of the best preserved examples of ancient urban planning

sigiriya Rock Lion roxxx me
yeay!! im so close to this huge-mammoth-gigantic rock that i’ve been eyeing since i saw a video clip of Duran Duran. it’s just amazing to witness human imagination harmonizes with the nature (the rock was formed from magma of an extinct volcano & reaches 200m high.
when King Kashyapa transfomed this rock into his palace, fortress, garden & ultimately his administrative capital during his reign (477 – 495 AD), it has becoming a magnificent legacy during his time
i am still amazed when i picture themassive construction of the city on top of the rock. how do these people drag all the building materials to the top? it must be hard time and tiring.

The first stop of the wonderful journey in Sri Lanka
Yesterday, we flew more than 7 hours from Shanghai to Sri Lanka, exchanged currency at the airport (we exchanged US dollars from Beijing, and then used US dollars to exchange rupees, which is more cost-effective) and then bought a SIM card, 20G for 1400 rupees, 30G for 1800 rupees, then we went back to the hotel, we didn't even eat dinner and just went to sleep.
The first stop, we came to St. Mary's Church, sincerely praying for our trip to go smoothly
Then we went to a place where you can experience riding an elephant. The entrance fee is 15 US dollars, and a round of elephant riding is 20 US dollars. The place is very original, and the elephants can rest by the stream.
Then we climbed Lion Rock before the sun set. The guide said there were more than 1200 steps in total, and it was not difficult to climb up. Both the elderly and children went up. We finally took many beautiful photos, but the sun set very quickly, and it felt like we didn't take many photos before we couldn't see the sun.
The itinerary of the first stop was a bit tight, but it was also very enjoyable😁

🇱🇰 Sigiriya lion Rock, the First UNESCO world heritage site in Sri Lanka
#freehotelstay
Type "Sri Lanka" in Google images and I'm sure the first few images you see will be the iconic Sigiriya Lion Rock. Inscribed in 1982 as one of the first UNESCO world heritage sites in Sri Lanka, Sigiriya Lion Rock is an ancient rock fortress built in the fifth century which stands around 200 m high.
The Sigiriya Fortress has an interesting history. It was built by King Kasyapa, the second king of the royal Moriya dynasty of Sri Lanka. He was not the rightful heir and acquired the throne by rebelling against his father. He built the palace right on top of the rock column to avoid potential attacks from his brother Moggallana, the rightful heir to the throne. He was defeated by Moggallana 22 years after ascending to the throne. The fortress was used as a monastery after Kasyapa’s death till it was abandoned in the 14th century. A few hundreds years later, it was discovered by British Army Major Jonathan Forbes in 1831.
Be prepared to have a workout while visiting the Lion Rock as there are around 1200 steps of stairs to climb throughout the visit. The amount of time taken to reach the top depends on your fitness level and also the crowd. We took about 2 hours to explore the site.
A foreign adult ticket costs USD 30 while a foreign child ticket costs USD 15. Tickets can be bought online from the official website or from the ticket office onsite. The site opens from 6.30 am to 5.30 pm every day. It is better to arrive early in the morning or in the late afternoon (last entry at 4 pm) to avoid the scorching sun.

📍Detailed address:
Sri Lanka, Matale District, Dambulla Town.
Sigiriya, Sri Lanka Lion Rock
🚗Transportation guide:
✅It takes about five hours by car from Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka, to Lion Rock. Currently, there are only two highways in Lanka, and one is under construction, so even if the distance is not too far, the travel time is still long (no highway).
✅There are long-distance buses from Danbulla to Lion Rock, generally starting from 7:00, with one bus every 30 minutes and a journey time of about 45 minutes. The last bus back to Danbulla departs around 19:00, please confirm in advance.
✅You can also take a Tuk-tuk from Dambulla to Lion Rock, which takes about 30 minutes and costs about 600 rupees. Please negotiate the price in advance.
🌈Highlight features:
🌟Lion Rock is located in the city of Sigiriya, Sri Lanka. The lush green trees and deep brown ancient buildings make this place full of mystery.
🌟The natural environment here is quiet and peaceful, with lush trees and clear bird songs, as if walking into a fairy tale story of the green wilderness.
🌟Lion's Paw Platform is a great place for taking photos, where friends from all over the world check in.
🌟I didn't make it to the top of the cliff. When I was looking at the murals in the iron cage before, I almost lost my life. My fear of heights had already made my legs weak. This is also a regret of my trip to Lanka.
⏳Playtime: recommended in the morning, beware of ☀️sunburn at noon
🕙Opening hours:
7:00 to 17:30 (ticket sales stop at 17:00)
💰Ticket price: $30, children under 1.2 meters are half price and free.
📌📝Attention tips:
1️⃣At Lion Rock, there will be many "kind-hearted people" who are particularly enthusiastic about coming to help you. All these kind-hearted people charge a fee, so as soon as you enter Lion Rock, there will be many little black people who come to chat with you enthusiastically. You can choose to ignore them directly, of course, if you don't mind giving a little tip (about 2,000 rupees), you can let them help you up. The way up is still quite scary for acrophobics.
2️⃣Ladies are advised not to wear skirts as the mountain climbing along the way is steep and skirts may easily expose. It is also recommended not to wear flip-flops as there are many steps to climb, some of which are quite steep.
3️⃣Sunscreen and mosquito repellent must be prepared in advance. In addition to the strong sunlight, there are still many mosquitoes 🦟 in Langkawi!
4️⃣Before entering the scenic area, there will be a bag inspection. They will tear off the paper label on the mineral water to avoid bringing garbage into the scenic area. They are particularly good at protecting this world heritage site!
4️⃣Bring water, definitely bring water. There's no water for sale at Lion Rock, and climbing the mountain is tiring and can make you thirsty. Bring some water just in case.

Nuwara Eliya
Ride through the tea plantations on a small alpine train
There are many train lines in Sri Lanka, covering many places on the island, and it is an indispensable means of transportation. The sea train from Galle to Colombo and the high mountain tea plantation train from Nuwara Eliya to Ella are two railway lines in the whole country, comparable to fairy tales scene in the story.
The section of the mountain train scenery is from Nuwara Eliya to ELLA, about 3.5 hours. Nuwara Eliya is surrounded by tea mountains, and the small train slowly shuttles between the rainforest and tea plantations at an altitude of 1,800 meters, which is simply a realistic version of the Wizard of Oz. You can choose the seat on the right side. The rainforest is shrouded in mist as if you are in the clouds. You can also see the tea pickers picking tea in the vast tea garden, and the fragrance of Ceylon black tea blows your face.
pink post office
With a history of 123 years, the pink post office is located in the center of Nuwara Eliya town. It is an internet celebrity attraction full of girls' hearts. Girls must not forget to come here to punch in the concave shape after visiting the tea garden, full of British style. The pink brick wall is like a fairytale house. When you walk in, there is a small shop selling postcards. If you like it, you can buy a few as souvenirs or send them to friends far away in any corner of the world. There is also a beautiful postcard outside. The red postbox looks great when taking pictures!
Tips:
1. There are three types of alpine trains: first class, second class and third class. There are fixed seats in the first class, but the windows are closed, and you cannot stretch your head out to take pictures of the scenery and people, and you need to book tickets online 10 days in advance. There are no fixed seats for second-class and third-class tickets, but there are many people and it is crowded. You need to buy tickets at the station and enter the station in advance to occupy a seat.
2. Opening hours of the tea factory: 09:00-18:00
3. The tea factory has tea tasting and tea tasting experience, which are generally free, and the price of buying tea is relatively affordable.
4. Appropriate tips are required for experiencing tea picking in the tea garden and taking pictures of tea picking girls or taking photos with tea picking girls.
5. Due to the high altitude and low temperature of the alpine train, it is recommended to prepare long clothes and trousers to avoid freezing cold.

Lost Kingdom | Sigiriya Lion Rock, Sri Lanka
On a 200-meter-high rock in Sigiriya, northeast of Dambulla, a Moriiya dynasty The military castle built by King Kassapa was discovered by the British hunter Bell in the 19th century and has since shocked the world.
The castle has been built for 18 years, including the moat under the mountain, the garden square, the cistern, the sky palace, etc., and the scale is huge. According to the data, the reservoir can be used for one year in the palace after being filled with rainwater. When the water level in the pool is too high, the overflowing water will flow from the top of the mountain to the garden below the mountain and will be diverted to different outlets and form a fountain. Drainage is also a beautiful scenery.
After the moat, climbing up the hill, towering lush trees, weathered mottled brick red boulders, steep stone ladders, can not help but marvel, how strong people were thousands of years ago chose to be on the rock Building the kingdom.
After reaching the mid-levels, you will reach the lion's claw platform under the giant rock, and the huge lion claw gate is in front of you! Although it has been weathered and eroded until only the lion's claws are visible, the tour guide gave the flowers a look at the restoration of the city gates. The fierce and majestic lion's head and the lion's claws were incomparable!
, , , The rock-top platform covers an area of nearly 2 hectares. It has a reservoir, a banquet hall, a council hall, a living room for the king and family, and a lost dynasty. It is the scene of the glory.
On the way to the top, you can enter the caves halfway up the mountain to enjoy the precious "half-naked ladies' natural murals". According to reports, there are more than 500 color pictures around the Lion Rock. After being eroded by the wind and rain, there are only 22 pieces that are now visible. The shape of the picture is vivid and the characters are obvious, but the color is not as bright as it was, for a longer time. Save these historical relics, you can't take pictures in the cave. There are replica murals in the scenic area that can be remake.
On the way to the lower palace, there will be a shining mirror wall. It is said that when the king walked, the kings figure could be reflected on the wall, but now only the story and the stone It is.
Flower Tips:
can arrange a 3-hour visit time. There are no trees covering the rain and rain after climbing and climbing the boulder. Pay attention to rain and rain, remember to wear comfortable sports. Shoes or hiking shoes.

"The Eighth Wonder of the World, Unveiling the Mysterious Veil of the Orange Red Sky Palace"
Lion Rock is known as the eighth wonder of the world. It is the giant rock dynasty of Skiria, Sri Lanka. It is a sky palace that is truly built on the orange-red rock. Built in the 5th century Datu Shena dynasty, it is said to be the father of the Sri Dashna dynasty Sri Lankan prince Cassie, and his brother Mogaran fled to India. In order to prevent revenge on Mogland, Cassie Boss built the city in "Lion Rock".
Into the Lion Rock, brown land and brick walls, the quaint sense of time came. There are large open spaces and ponds at the foot of the mountain. There are various animals inhabited, and the surprise encounters with the big python. Step by step on the spiral staircase, with frescoes on the "angelic girl" of Sirigiye.
Step by step through the existing 22 murals, slowly climb the summit, the line of sight slowly becomes wider. It is said that it was a palace more than 1,000 years ago, and now there is only one ruin. It is really hard to imagine more than a thousand. How did the Sri Lankans moved the building materials to the 200-meter high platform years ago?
The natural environment of Sri Lanka is very good. Standing on the top platform of Lion Rock, you can see lush trees and monkeys walking around. In the evening, when the sun sets, the entire Lion Rock is dyed with a golden yellow glow. The Lion Rock will weather as time goes by, and it will slowly disappear. If you want to go, it will be early!
Address: Sigiriya, Sri Lanka.
Transportation: Take a long-distance bus and Tuk-tuk from Dambulla.

Sri Lankan Lion Rock, the former lion of the palace stands in the highest point of the city. Like every ancient ruin, the mottled traces of the years are vicissitudes of too many stories. This heavenly palace was built by King Cassie, the king of the Moriiya dynasty with genius and sin, and is extremely complex and luxurious. Seeing the locals on the side of the road, the black skin always shines with a sincere smile, and the little baby here is not only cute, but also looks very beautiful. In this country with faith, where the ecological harmony is, the roadside will Monkeys appear inadvertently, as well as a variety of other animals. There are many brown brick walls on the brown land. Although it is low, the age of the monuments is very powerful, and the history of the country, the dynasty, is constantly coming to mind.

Sri Lanka World Heritage Photography
Sri Lanka's eight world heritage sites in the ancient city of Kandy. The ancient city of Kandy, known as the Buddhist shrine, was the last capital of the Sinhala kingdom. It was enjoyed by the British before it was conquered for more than 2,500 years.
Anurat Pula is located in the north-central part of Sri Lanka and was built in 377 BC. From the 3rd century BC to the 10th century AD, it was the capital of Sri Lanka. The Buddhist tradition of Sri Lanka originated here.
Polonnaruwa is located in the northeastern part of Sri Lanka. It is the ancient capital of Sri Lanka's second dynasty. It flourished in the 11th-13th centuries AD and was abandoned after the invasion of foreign enemies in the 14th century. It was not until the early 20th century that modern cities were established here. Most of the monuments left here are built in the 12th century.
Danbra Cave Temple was built in the first and second centuries. It is located on a boulder mountain in the south of Dambulla. The Dambulla Cave Temple has been more than 2,000 years old, with its exquisite Mural paintings and stone carvings have attracted the attention of pilgrims for thousands of years.
The ancient city of Sigiriya, has one of the most visited historical sites in Sri Lanka. It is a sky palace built on the red rock of Lion Rock about 200 meters high, called Sigiriya Lion Rock.
The old town of Galle is in the hinterland of the Indian Ocean. The Old Town of Galle and its castle are built on the rocky peninsula. This peninsula is a natural port, surrounded by the sea on three sides. The geographical advantage is self-evident, which makes Galle one of the important hubs for Europe to travel to the Far East during the Great Navigation era.

Lion Rock tickets are 30 and can be paid in US dollars or rupees. Then take us to the entrance to the scenic spot, and then we have to play ourselves.
Lion Rock is a real palace built in the orange-red rock in Sigiriya City, Sri Lanka. It has the natural wonders of Ayers Rock in Australia, and it has an artificial miracle that cannot be possible. Don't let every new arrival come to the eye and sigh.
It is hailed as the eighth wonder of the world and is one of the culminations of Sri Lanka's Golden Triangle of Culture and is one of the world-class treasures preserved by UNESCO.
This rock is two hundred meters high. From a distance, the Lion Rock is a flat down in the northeast of Danbula, and the top is flat like a lion. The lion's head was weathered and dropped, leaving only the lonely lion's body, and a garden palace built at a height of 200 meters on its back.
was buried in the jungle for centuries and was not discovered by the British hunter Bell until the mid-19th century, and has since received much attention from the archaeological community. Its range includes the moat, a garden plaza, a huge rock, and a brick-red aerial castle built on top of the rock.
Rachel Yu.
Lion Rock, one of the world's most precious heritages, is even hailed as the eighth wonder of the world, and has become a must-see for every visitor to Sri Lanka.
Sikkiye City, Sri Lanka has also grown and developed due to the existence of Lion Rock. It has entered the Lion Rock World Heritage Park. It is a large stone that is found on this large stone. Here, it is a height of almost 100 meters from the vertical height of the ground. When people marvel at the ancient art, they are also attracted by the murals on the rock wall. These exquisite murals have already become the national treasure of Sri Lanka, and even in recent years, even mobile phones have been photographed. Not allowed, but you can see the enlarged original in the museum in Colombo, just take it.
Climb the sky palace site is also a physical activity, normal people need to spend 20-25 minutes, but of course this does not include the time you take pictures, due to the surge in Chinese tourists in recent years, you can see the Chinese tour guide at the ticket office If you are interested, you can hire a tour guide, provided that you must remember the price.
Reminiscence_Has_You.
Although at the top of the Lion Rock is the Sky Palace, there is also a large garden below it. After entering the scenic spot, you need to take a long but very gentle road. There are some ruins on both sides, giving people a feeling like Angkor Wat. But no matter where you go, the huge lion rock is clearly visible.
Then we have to start climbing, and we shuttle between the stone walls. The texture of many stones is very beautiful, although it is generally orange-red, but there are some blue-green textures that intersect to form beautiful lines. There are many wild monkeys in the
scenic area. They are smart and will grab the food of tourists. Look at the little eyes, sometimes pity, sometimes fierce.
Climb to about half and you will see the spiral staircase. Go slowly, or you will feel dizzy. After the spiral staircase went up, I could see the mural of the "Angel-like Girl", but it was strictly forbidden to take pictures, so I did not take pictures.
After stepping down the spiral ladder, you can see a long golden mirror wall shining in the sun. There are many ancient words on the wall, which record the praises of people after visiting the Lion Rock for thousands of years. It is a precious document in Sri Lanka.
After a long walkway, you can reach the lion's claw platform. Passing through the Lions Gate, you boarded a narrow iron ladder that clung to the cliff, climbing almost at right angles, and the wind rushed past.
Arrival at the summit, the scenery of the top of the rock is suddenly open, far-sighted, the jungle is boundless, green, and the whole city is unobstructed.
Rachel Yu.
Because there is no way to fly a drone, it is quite unfortunate that there is no way to see the overall style of Lion Rock. However, the hotel near Lion Rock gave me an unexpected surprise. Sitting by the pool and looking out over the lion rock top, its a good experience to think about it.
The hotel also has food and spa, ordering food quickly, the speed of serving is not very fast, the taste is OK, drink a bottle of local lion beer, the taste is strong and refreshing, feeling the summer heat.
The room is very simple, the color is bright, and the regional features are very clear. Although the room size is not very large, it is enough. The biggest problem is that the paint smell is very good here. The city of Sri Lanka is very clean and often sees workers brushing the brush on the road. The hotel is even more so, as if it is obsessive-compulsive, it can't make the room wall a little embarrassing. Even if it is not a new hotel, the room may taste.
