The Ruixi Palace Pagoda is located west of Liangwu Town and on the south bank of the Irrawaddy River. It was completed in 1102 AD. It is the oldest temple in Bagan, and it is also a building made of stones. It creates the classic style of the local pagoda shape, which is the prototype of Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon. There are a Buddha tooth and some Buddha bones in the Ruixi Palace Pagoda, and there are many local people who worship here. Before coming to the temple, you need to take off your shoes and walk into a 100-meter long corridor. There are many small vendors on both sides of the promenade, selling some handicrafts, and occasionally encounter a few little monks in red robes. Go to the end of the promenade, the names of the donors and the amount of donations are written on the walls on both sides. When you step out of the promenade, you can see the glittering Shwedagon Pagoda, like a miniature version of Shwedagon Pagoda. There are many pigeons on the edge of the tower, a peaceful atmosphere. Every morning, many Buddhist believers come here to pray, and the face of devout worship is impressive. The main body of the pagoda is painted with red lacquer, with a layer of gold foil attached to the outside, and the surrounding instruments and sculptures are gilded. The Ruixi Palace Tower is surrounded by 53 sculptures, including a lion, a macara (an animal that resembles a crocodile), and a toad. The base of the stupa consists of a three-tiered platform, and its treads are green wooden boards carved with traditional theatrical scenes, but it is not currently possible to climb the pagoda. It is said that buying a piece of gold foil and sticking it on the relief under the tower will bring blessings. The side hall outside the pagoda has uniform red lacquer pillars, and the top is decorated with gilt gold pagoda. A small Buddhist chapel on the southeast side of the pagoda is dedicated to 37 patron saints of the Kingdom of Bagan. The whole temple is particularly shining in the afternoon sun. There is also a small pool on the ground in front of the pagoda. You can see the reflection of the canopy on the top of the pagoda in the water, which is very interesting. In addition, a side hall in the backyard of the temple has a beautiful parquet tile floor, which is a good place to rest in the shade. After sunset, the pagoda will light up, and the dazzling Ruixi Palace Pagoda under the stars has a unique flavor.
