Qinglian-in is a well-known place for viewing cherry blossoms and maple trees. You can also visit the magical scenery after lighting up at night. According to legend, it was relocated from Qinglian-in in Hiei Mountain during the Heian period. Emperor Guangge also stayed here temporarily when the imperial residence was destroyed by fire. It can be seen that Qinglianyuan has a profound relationship with the royal family. Therefore, the buildings in the territory, such as the Chen Hall, the Small Imperial Palace, and the Huading Hall, have a noble-like elegance. The pond-spring-style garden with the Ryushin Pond at the center is said to have been built by the painter Soami of the Muromachi period, while the Kirishima Garden, famous for its rhododendrons on the north side, was built by the tea master Kohori Enshu of the Edo period.
