Hiking in the Shiretoko Five Lakes, a World Natural Heritage Site
In the Hokkaido itinerary, the Shiretoko Peninsula is a bit niche and is generally not the first choice. As a world natural heritage site, Shiretoko is far away from the crowds and has a mysterious atmosphere. It still retains its original natural features. The Eight Views of Shiretoko range from lakes and waterfalls in native forests to stunning snow scenery. Hiking through the Shiretoko Five Lakes is the most popular itinerary in Hokkaido in winter.
🌟Recommendation reason:
1⃣️The Shiretoko Five Lakes are backed by the Shiretoko Mountains and surrounded by pristine forests, where many wild animals live. In spring and summer, the mountains are continuous and the primeval forests are reflected on the tranquil lake, which is like a dream. From December to March every year, this place is covered with snow.
2⃣️Enter from the entrance of Shiretoko Five Lakes, and go counterclockwise through the Five Lakes, Four Lakes, Three Lakes, Two Lakes, and One Lake to the Lakeside Observation Deck and the final Lianshan Observation Deck. Stepping onto the top of the hill in the face of the snow, I saw a
Frozen sea. At around 4 p.m., the sun was setting, and the pink and golden light reflected off the blue sea.
On the way back along the beach, we happened to enjoy the most beautiful sunset in Shiretoko.
3⃣️The white-bearded Japanese grandfather served as our guide. There were 9 people in the team, including 3 Chinese sisters and 6 Japanese guests. The guide took us to experience speeding on the snow in the forest. From time to time, he slapped the leaves to make artificial snow, and then took out a stack of fertilizer plastic bags to make a snow slope for sliding. The program was super rich.
💰Per capita consumption: Hiking in Shiretoko Five Lakes in winter, 6,500 yen, very cost-effective
