This historic building was built in 1902 and is registered as a national tangible cultural property. It is located on a hill overlooking Misumi Nishi Port. It is currently used as a maritime technical college. I stopped by here when I went sightseeing in Amakusa, Kumamoto Prefecture. It's a lovely colonial-style building located right next to the World Heritage Site "Mitsumi Nishiko". It was originally an inn and restored in 1905. The building is used as a rest area, and there were two music events being held when I visited. Kumamon with his beard was very cute. It was named Nagao because a giant stingray carrying the enshrined deity, Wadatsumi no Kami, landed on the land, and the stingray's tail is shaped like a sword, so the shrine was named Nagao Tsurugi Shrine. The main shrine is on high ground and there are steep stairs. I've visited before, but the tide was low and I couldn't see the torii gate floating in the sea.
