It was very beautiful and very cold. When I went up the ropeway, the sky was closed. The view was beautiful, but when I reached the top, the sky was closed, but I got snow instead. We were there during winter and were very lucky to have good weather on the day. The panoramic scenery was simple stunning and mesmerising with the alps, snowy mountains surrounding, frozen trees, and canyon views. The gondola uphill was kind of shaky but it was alright, definitely worth the visit. Besides taking touristy photos at the observatory deck, we spent some of our time playing with the snow at the park outside the observatory and also went for the free onsen where visitors can soak their feet in the public onsen pool. It was such a fun filled experience here! Would recommend!

Getting to Shinhotaka Ropeway This trip, we traveled from Takayama City by bus. For this trip, we bought the Okuhida & Kamikochi bus ticket with Shinhotaka Ropeway for 1,651 baht, which included both the bus and the cable car tickets (very worthwhile). The bus station is right next to Takayama Train Station. It takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes to get to the cable car station. The cable car is divided into 2 sections, leaving every 30 minutes. - The first section is 200 meters long. - The second section starts from Nabedaira Kogen Station, 800 meters long. In this second section, the cable car is 2 stories high, rising above the clouds. You will get to see a panoramic view of the Japan Alps, which is truly spectacular. The description is not as good as what you see with your own eyes. Each section has a resting station where you can escape the cold wind and lean on the heater to warm up. When the cable car reaches the highest point, there is a viewpoint on the rooftop where you can see the Japan Alps. It's a beautiful sight. The altitude is 2156 meters with a temperature below zero. The day we had clear skies, it was very beautiful. This was the second time we came to experience the atmosphere here. It was still exciting as ever. This time it was even more beautiful than before. Inside the station, there are also restaurants, both savory and sweet, for you to try. But for Muslims like us, there are also bread shops and soft-serve ice cream shops for you to try.
