It felt like breathing in harmony with nature🌾. The scenery at Laomei Green Reef is truly dreamy🌿✨, especially during the best viewing season from March to April. During this time, moss grows abundantly, covering the reef in vibrant green, creating a healing landscape intertwined with the waves💚. Sitting quietly and watching the tides ebb and flow, it feels as if all your worries are being washed away. The most touching moment was the stunning sunset that day! It felt like a love letter from the sky to the earth—gentle and heartfelt🥺💛. If you want to heal your soul and escape the hustle and bustle of the city, this place will truly recharge your spirit. ✅ Suggested One-Day Itinerary: 📍Waiao Coastal Trail → 📍Wangyou Valley (short hike) → 📍Laomei Green Reef (best in March-April) → 📍Fugui Cape Lighthouse or head back to Keelung Night Market for dinner! Shimen District belongs to New Taipei City and is located at 121.6 degrees east longitude and 25.3 degrees north latitude. It is the northernmost township in Taiwan. It is bordered by Jinshan District to the east, Sanzhi District to the west, Zhuzihu in Shilin District, Taipei City to the south, and the Taiwan Strait to the north, facing Fujian City across the sea. It covers an area of ​​51.2645 square kilometers. The Shimen Cave here was formed by sea erosion and was designated as a natural monument. Since there is a small hill on the coast of Shimen District with a large hole in the middle that looks like an arch, the old name was inherited and named "Shimen District" after Taiwan was liberated during World War II. You can also go to the nearby Shimen Eighteen Kings Temple: located on the north coast line between Jinshan and Shimen Cave, it is very popular and there are rumors that divination and prayers are effective. It is said that the Eighteen Kings are addicted to smoking, so pilgrims also light up incense to worship after praying, which is a spectacular sight.

This rice terrace is called 百年梯田（bainian titian) in Shimen district, new taipei. Located near the qingshan waterfall, this beautiful terraced field offers great view and serenity. #MarchGoodPlaces2025 Shimen Cave, standing on Provincial Highway 2 on the Coastal Highway, is a prominent landmark in Shimen District, New Taipei City. The name comes from this Shimen Cave. According to legend, during the Japanese occupation era, the unique sea erosion topography of Shimen Cave amazed the Japanese and they named this place "Shimen Village", which later became the name of the local village and is still used today. [Geological Wonder] In topography, it is called "Sea Arch", which is an arch formed by erosion by sea water. Millions of years ago, the Datun volcano group erupted, depositing thick volcanic debris and lava. Later, heavy rains washed away and re-deposited layers of rock on the coast to form a small hill. The strata were then squeezed and cracked into vertical "joints", or cracks. The northeast monsoon and frequent typhoons in summer brought about waves and strong erosion energy. The rock layers collapsed into the sea piece by piece, and over time, the original sea trenches became sea caves, and finally evolved into the sea gates we see today. Walking into Shimen Cave, you can see the beautiful scenery of sea and sky, although there is only a small piece of beautiful shell beach here. The coastal reefs appear green because of the seaweed attached to them, and sometimes you can see local residents picking seaweed here. Shimendong is a sea cave on the Northwest coast of of Taiwan. It is actually not a cave, rather a stone arch formed by erosion. It is just next to the highway, looking out to the ocean. It was low tide when we arrived and relatively cloudy so the view wasn’t as nice as seen on the net. There are stairs for your to walk across the arch but we did not do so. We did not spend too much time there since there wasn’t much to do but you can spend some time there watching sunset. Getting there: Bus / taxi. Entrance fee: FOC
