Tokyo 𓂃 𓈒𓏸 Shiba Park Shiba Toshogu Shrine I went to visit Shiba Toshogu Shrine, which is beautiful with lots of sunlight filtering through the trees. It's surprisingly rare to visit shrines and temples in Tokyo, so it was like an oasis, where you forget that there are skyscrapers, Tokyo Tower, and other urban buildings nearby. This is one of the four great Toshogu Shrines, built within the grounds of Zojoji Temple, the bodhisattva temple of Tokugawa Ieyasu. Apparently many people visit the shrine as it is believed to bring good luck. The sacred large ginkgo tree will soon change color and create an autumnal landscape. 🍂 It is said that this large ginkgo tree was hand-planted by the Tokugawa clan. Shiba Toshogu Shrine was located within the grounds of Zojoji Temple at the time. The deity worshipped at Toshogu Shrine is Tokugawa Ieyasu, but the only shrines in Tokyo with the name Toshogu are Shiba Toshogu Shrine and Ueno Toshogu Shrine. The deity is a life-size statue that is said to have been ordered to be made by Tokugawa Ieyasu when he turned 60. This is Toshogu Shrine in Minato Ward, Tokyo. It is located next to the plum grove in Shiba Park. There are red and white plum trees in the precincts. Red and white plum trees were blooming on the approach to the shrine, and white plum trees were blooming near the main shrine. Although it is still cold, I could feel the arrival of spring. It is said to bring good luck in career advancement and ward off evil. The statue of Tokugawa Ieyasu is enshrined as the deity, so why not visit when you want to pray for success in a competition, exam, promotion, or other goals? ☺️ There was a lot of greenery and it was very open.
