Shentangyu Plank Road Navigate to "Shentangyu Plank Road Parking Lot" (CNY 10/day). Public bus H39 goes directly to the entrance. The Shentangyu Plank Road is 7.5 km long. It's perfect for spring, summer, and autumn visits, but it can get very crowded. Enjoy the flowers in spring, the cool shade in summer, the scenery in autumn, and leisurely walks in winter. Picture nine shows the entire cable route of the plank road, which you can use as a reference. You can park anywhere along the route and access the plank road. There are three core highlights: The first 2 km is a gentle section with walnut groves and streams. Take photos on the stone slab bridge or let the kids play in the water. Middle section: The 180° viewing platform at Yanyu Peak offers panoramic views of the remnants of the Ming Dynasty Great Wall and the rolling mountains. Final section: From Seven Fairies Pointing the Way to the end. There are many vendors along the route selling food, drinks, and toys. There are also many homestays for resting. There's also a large rock inscribed with 'Shentangyu Plank Road'. This place is developed by the government, free of charge, but it's a bit worn due to age, adding a touch of wilderness. I've divided it into six stages, with the second, third, and sixth being the most enjoyable. At each section, there's a sign with a phone number for the sightseeing cart service; if you don't feel like walking, you can call and take a ride back at any time. It's operated by locals and costs 20 yuan per person, with the possibility to negotiate for groups. Stage One: From the starting point to Shentangyu Village, you cross a river and climb a slope, which isn't long. Over the hill, you'll find Taigong Creek for fishing; turn right and follow the river without much distinction. Stage Two: From Shentangyu Village to Jiuqu Listening to the Qin, the riverside environment is lovely, perfect for playing in the water and catching fish, with hardly any climbing. Stage Three: Starting from Jiuqu Listening to the Qin and crossing the road, you'll climb a slope, which is also not long. Along the way, there are many chestnut trees, and soon after the ascent, you'll see a popular cave with changing lights inside; it's quite interesting and not too dark. Continuing down the hill, you'll reach the village. Stage Four: This stage isn't really a plank road but a village road. After descending from stage three, turn left and follow the main village road straight through the village. You'll see signs for Shentangyu Plank Road; this stretch feels like it's over a kilometer long. Stage Five: Following the signs, cross the river and turn right, starting roughly from Chaoling Fishing Village. This stage is mostly along the river, passing many homestays and resorts. At one point, the crossing stones have been washed away by the river, so you have to step on rocks to cross. Along the way, there are also areas where residents keep chickens, ducks, and geese, which feels a bit desolate. Stage Six: The most famous hanging plank road stage. If you only want to see the hanging plank road, navigate to 'Zuo Shan You Shui Mountain Villa', where there's parking, but it's unclear if there's a fee or if parking is allowed. Cross the river and go up the plank road. Alternatively, head directly to Shentangyu Scenic Area and walk down the plank road; it's not far to reach. The hanging plank road section is actually quite short and is great for taking photos.

Coming to Shentangyu in Huairou during the summer is a great choice. The area is shaded by green trees and there's a stream flowing by, making it a perfect summer retreat. There are two different places nearby, Shentangyu and Shentangyu Plank Road. Shentangyu Plank Road is a scenic route that stretches about 7 kilometers. It was built along with Yanqi Lake Plank Road for the APEC conference. You can walk from the foot of the mountain along the Shentangyu Plank Road, and the end of the plank road is the entrance to the Shentangyu Park. Shentangyu Plank Road was built along Yanqi River, and you can easily find the entrance to the plank road from the highway. The entire river area is dotted with various homestays, hotels, and guesthouses, so you can find a place to stay wherever you like. About 2 kilometers along the plank road, there are two tunnels, one long and one short. It's very cool to walk through in the summer, but if it's the rainy season, the tunnel might be dark due to water accumulation. About 3 kilometers along, there's a section of the plank road that's close to the water and flat, with a small beach, which is perfect for camping. Here, you can set up a tent, chill drinks and fruits in the cool stream, and enjoy a relaxing time with some music. At the end of the Shentangyu Plank Road, there are electric cars. If you don't want to walk back the same way, you can take a sightseeing car back to your accommodation, or even to the starting point. You can spend a day at Shentangyu Plank Road. About an hour's drive from Shentangyu, there's the famous Huanghuacheng Water Great Wall. If you have enough time and energy, you can also visit the Huanghuacheng Water Great Wall. Transportation: It's very convenient to drive there, you can navigate directly to Shentangyu Plank Road. Tickets: Shentangyu Plank Road does not require a ticket, but the Shentangyu Park at the end of the plank road requires a 50 yuan ticket. Tips: Shentangyu Plank Road and Huanghuacheng Water Great Wall are both pet-friendly.
