Shenzhen's 240-hour transit visa-free policy was fully relaxed and optimized on December 17, 2024, allowing citizens of eligible countries to stay in Shenzhen for up to 240 hours (10 days) without a visa.This policy applies to citizens of 54 countries, including the United States, Canada, Australia, South Korea, Japan, etc.
Applicable countries and conditions
Currently, citizens of 54 countries can enjoy this policy, including Russia, Brazil, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, etc. In fact, when citizens of these countries transit from China to a third country, they can enter the country visa-free from any of the 60 ports opened in China's 24 provinces (districts, cities) and stay in the prescribed areas for no more than 240 hours. Shenzhen is now one of them.
Processing process and required materials
Confirm eligibility: First confirm whether your nationality meets the conditions.
Required materials and documents:
Passport: Make sure that the passport is valid for at least 3 months or more.
Connecting air tickets: Purchase tickets in advance for transit from China and fly to a third country within 240 hours.
Arrival at the airport: Arrive at Shenzhen Baoan International Airport or Shekou Port (passenger transportation) and find the "Transit visa-free processing area".
Submit the application: Hand over your passport and connecting ticket to the border inspection staff and tell them that you want to apply for a 240-hour transit visa exemption.
Waiting for review: The staff will review your materials, and if everything goes well, they will issue you a temporary entry permit that allows you to stay for 240 hours.
Applicable ports and areas of stay
Shenzhen has two ports where the 240-hour transit visa-free policy applies, both located in Qianhai, namely Shenzhen Baoan International Airport Port and Shekou Port (passenger transport).
Transit visa-free personnel stay in the designated area for no more than 240 hours.
